'96 temperature guage and fan not working
Hey all, just looking for a little confirmation here, I tried searching and found some good info but I am still a little unsure
short story
first temp guage was acting funny, then stopped all together, and also noticed rad was leaking at this time, replaced rad and all is well now, but the temp guage never moves and the fan doesnt come on, I also changed the thermostat and seal with the rad, so I know the thermostat is good,
my thoughts are the temp sensor is failing, causing the temp guage to fail, Im curious though if this would also cause the fan to not turn on? I just want to make sure I am on the right track as I believe I wasted money buying the new thermostat as it didnt solve any problems.
The car has 350,000Km and is a testament to the quality of a Honda as its been pretty good all its life but of course little things here and there are starting to need attention!
Any help is greatly appreciated

I'm pretty sure the temp sending unit and the fan switch are separate sensors. You could probe the temp gauge sending unit with an ohm meter. The resistance should be in the 200 to 400 ohm range roughly and smoothly change as the engine cools down. (or ground the connector and the gauge should peg at hot. Do this only briefly to prevent damage to the gauge)
The rad fan sensor grounds the fan circuit. If you're brave, you could pull the connector off and ground it. If the fan runs, the sensor is either bad or not getting hot enough.
