Default D16z6 into ef, running but with problems!!!

ok at first my timing was off, fixed that. then my distributor wires were crossed, fixed that. I have a d16z6, the head was ported, i have rc 340 or 345cc (can't remember) injectors with stock p28 running obd1, no piggyback.

I also just started the car and it will finally start but it smokes white alot!!! I'm wondering if the injectors are to big and that would cause it or the fact that my gas has been sitting for like a year, would that cause it???

I haven't done my timing with a light yet to see if it's dead on or not and i believe i need a valve adjustment because i hear some tapping. Can the p28 ecu support that big of an injector? please help i want this thing running asap!!! tia

Wow i would expect after 1,400 posts you would have more knowledge than this. First off, let me say that running your car off of gas that has been sitting up for a year is a horrible idea, if you do some research you'll find that gas that sits up for so long isn't so much gas anymore, but more of a watery liquid. In most cases cars won't start but if it does it is a horrible idea to run with it. Also, if the only modification to the motor is just some head porting, there isn't really a necessity for larger injectors. Also, running your car with tapping in the head is also another horrible idea, i would advise draining your fuel tank, getting the car perfectly on time, and then see what happens from there. But i would also recommend flushing out your fuel system. And no the ECU will not support larger injectors without tuning.

jon

thanks for the help, i know it's a bad idea to run it with gas that old and i'm going to drain and flush the whole system. and the only reason i'm running those injectors is bc my stock injectors are broken and that was my only option at the time of install. the car is timed i just need to check it with a timing gun, also is there another way to tune the ecu to work the injectors?? like can i make something with parts from radioshack or something??? help

btw i have plenty of knowledge i've just never ran into this many problems during a swap
