How the hell would a bad VC gasket cause the "inside" of the motor to smoke ?

Some smoke is normal...
It is known as "blow-by" which is a bi-product of
the engines compression..
Compression by-passes the piston rings and pressurizes
the crankcase..That is what the PCV system is all about..
It channels the unburned gases back through the intake
to be burned again..
As long as it is not consuming mass quanties of oil
it is OK..

Though about that one after I posted. This guy has a SOHC, I had a smoking problem caused by bad plug seals on my DOHC recently, oil was blowing by into the plug tube, smoking, then coming out into the head. I always change the plug seals when replacing the VC gasket, hence my association between the two. My bad for not explaining thoroughly, no need to be a dick though

I doubt its a piston ring. However, it could be bad valve stem seals. I agree that it's probably just a blow by though, but if you're worried about it then I would check the valve stem seals out.
