Default stumble away or file for refund/credit ::: Zeal B2 Suspension

bought a used zeal b2 suspension full coilover from a member
agreed terms were that the 2 rear units were blown and needed revalving.
and...
that two front units were "perfect"

i got a good deal
i paid $169.69 shipped from canada
with the expectation to pay $100 per unit revalve at zeal plus parts/fluids & shipping to/from zeal on TWO of the units...

when i recieved the suspension today two of the spin adjusters were not there...
which i will get charged for when i send in to zeal...
the front units were scanty in response
one of which did not even respond without help

so thats an additional $100 plus parts/fluids and shipping to/from zeal
and also the unlikelyhood that i wouldn't just send in all 4 to be revalved
which is another $100 plus parts/fluids and shipping to/from zeal

so lets say i originally planned on spending an additional $325 for 2 units
and now its looking like at least $550 and more likely over $600
plus the original cost of $169.69

click for wmv video of the two fronts response ::: 1.92 Mb

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

so is this still a good deal considering i'm looking at an additional $250-$350
and if it isn't...should i file for a full refund...
i dont know at this point if the seller will be willing to give a partial refund
i mean...i think they are worth something having bought them from him...
but i'm not sure if spending $850-$950 total for a used b2 suspension is really worth it...
when i was originally planning on spending about $550 tops

thanx for any and all input

well look at it this way, if they are all rebuilt, they will be as good as new! $800 isn't so bad for zeal b2... I feel bad for you though because you totally got screwed, Boo to bad sellers.

well endlessusa says without warranty i am looking at $150 per corner
plus parts/fluids & shipping to/from endlessusa/zeal

so i am putting it on the seller to provide warranty info or expect a dispute...
the seller originally stated it was $80 to revalve a corner...
i'm looking at double that plus two extra corners...

compression should be controlled and smooth on the shocks, a better way to tell if they are worn is to see how fast and smooth you can 'pull' on the piston once its compressed. The stiffer you set the shocks the harder it will get to pull on the piston; thats the adjustable rebound part. But if either the in/out action is not smooth, then suspect a worn damper.

The piston coming out on its own could be an indication of a low/high gas charge or messed up rebound valving allowing whatever force the gas charge has to make the piston pop back out.

well the one i 'thought' was bad as portrayed in the video is missing the setting **** and it cant be turned by hand and is likely siezed...
but by what you are saying the unit that rebounds is the bad one...?

without changing the settings the 2nd unit (stuck on setting #1) in the video that DOES NOT rebound fluctuates resistance when pushing in...
its easy then gets harder...if you press it in nearly whole way it rebounds the first inch or so fairly quickly/responsively but then does nothing without help...
i think it is more likely the damaged unit internally...

the first unit in the video is most consistent in variation when loaded by hand...
and pulling it out as you described is also fairly fluid in movement
its not perfect either...and i wouldn't classify it as 'excellent' as the seller described for BOTH fronts...

see shervin...
thats not the kind of attitude you had before the sale...
it was openly discussed between us that this was a hookup
and i was thankful...and you came across as a decent person...
but that isn't the case anymore...now its just you going back on your word...
and the deal is just average...and certainly not what i expected...
and certainly not what i can afford or was planning to spend...
anc certainly not what i agreed to or thought i was getting myself into...

like i said...
i'm willing to look past all this if you can help find the original shop of purchase
if i produce some information to endless/zeal i can get the price dropped $50 per corner...
that is significant in getting the cost somewhere back towards 'as advertised'...
something a little closer to what i agreed to...
i wasn't expecting to have to revalve the fronts...and that is significant
thats easily over $400 without warranty info
thats not being 'jewish'...especially when we talked about all this before the sale...

Yeah, $80 for a set of Zeals, they're only going to be so good. There should be a serial number on each shock. If you can find that and send it to Zeal, they should be able to confirm if they were purchased in the US or not.

They offerred a service for the Function B6s a year or two ago, I don't know why they wouldn't service the B2s as well.
