Default End of 2006 for me...... a little long, sorry

What a year!! i managed to build a car in 3 days just to race it one weekend, and put the coupe together from the ground up in just one week to make it to an event. drove back and forth to Indiana for the BEST motor i could have ever asked for, met tons and tons of great people, and even picked up a few sponsors along the way. the past 2 seasons for me have been the learning experiance of a lifetime. i cant wait till next year!!

started the season off on a 40r @ springpressure due to some ignition issues. put a T1 cam trigger kit and AEM in the car and went a 9.8 the very first pass after that. the first 9 second pass made every hour i spent on the car worth while.

right before this past englishtown race, courtney green was nice enough to let me borrow his 42r so i could keep up, or atleast try to. rumors have been floating around on the power i made, so i figure i would post my uncorrected dyno jet numbers. i obvously was unable to make any successfull pass's at this power level, but gathering info over the weekend with short times 1/8th mile mph etc, i think next year should be very interesting!

Brad Brooks is amazing with AEM, he did the tune on this car, and will do any AEM related tuning i ever need done. at lower boost levels before the turbo began dropping boost, power would hold out over 10k rpm.

i have struggled this year with finding a transmission that was in decent shape, and never getting the suspension set up and dialed in how i would have liked made getting respectable short times a challange. obviously thats where my focus will be next year. with all the hurdles this year i was able to come in numerous 2nd places, a few number 1 qualifiers, a win, a final and semi final in 2 domestic events, and even 2 "best reaction time" bonus checks came my way. unfortunatly the broken transmission at englishtown quickly eliminated me from the NHRA east coast points championship, but it was still a good feeling knowing i came to the track with a shot at it atleast.

there is no possible way i could have come this far with out the help and support of my sponsors and freinds along the way.

Stewart Engines..... there is no possible way i could be any happier with the engine program from stewart engines. this motor was 110% bulletproof the entire season. the port work on the cylinder head was amazing. a basic maitnance program was followed, and the motor never had a single issue, and it survived some brutal igntion missfires earlier in the year. not to mention it made sick power!! we always seemed to max out the turbo's we used with much less boost than expected. if you need a sportfwd engine program for next year http://www.stewartengines.com is where you need to go.

hybrid-performance..... as you can tell from the big stickers on the doors, hybrid performance has done an amazing job of helping me remain track ready. everything with my car has always come down to the last possible second, and hybrid always (still havnt figured out how) has manged to always get me exactly what i needed exactly when i needed it. not to mention with the help getting me to the events i cant thank http://www.hybrid-performance.com enough!!

Exedy Clutches..... when i thought i was done for the year after the New York race, Exedy stepped up and got me back on track. i previously used an exedy twin disk clutch in my car, and it lasted about 3x longer than i ever expected. slapped the new clutch in the car, and its been flawless ever sense. thanks again for all the help! http://www.exedyusa.com

Full-Race.... I have the ability to make all of my own manifolds and such, but the attention to detail on the full race products is so amazing....i wanted to put the turbo system on this car this year and know i wont have to touch it again. between the divided top mount, intake manifold and cylinder head from stewart engines, the powerband is just insane (especially with the 4088r...i made peak power under 6k rpm and held it past 10k rpm!!) thanks for everything http://www.full-race.com

T1 Race Development... i dont know if i should thank you more for fixing my missfire problems or putting up with the 4,000 questions i have day to day. Tony has been more than helpfull with many differnt things on my car, and it has been nice to compare times, dyno numbers, etc and see we usually saw nearly identical results on so many different tests. http://www.t1racedeveopment.com should be the first websight you go to if you are even considering running AEM, the cam trigger kit is absolutly a must!

tunerzine..... the press releases and help with sponsorship and promotion has been an extreme help. coverage on the car, help lining up photographers, etc has really paid off. thanks for all the great work!! http://www.tunerzine.com

i would also like to thank anybody and everybody who has lended a hand. Fred Ellis has been a great help, he is one of the most creative people i have ever met when you are in a bind. congratulations on the new baby fred!! all of our customers over the years at Tempest Racing,Luke for hooking me up with Stewart Engines, Courtney for letting me see what this 42r is all about, terry for lining up the 42r, Jason Charlie and Brian at CSI....charlie has helped with the trannys, brian has taught me a lot about the little things, and jason was the first guy i saw do this at the track that made me realize thats what i want to do, thanks for making me poor jason! casey at burns stainless, gravy for the help with the gauges and what not, john and james at mazworks, my girlfreind for making food and having a notebook that has every single pass that everybody made in SPFWD for the whole season, ladders, elimintaions etc...she's hard core. danny zimmerman and richie gibson for lending a hand last min. when i would need parts, chris for the most insane dyno strapping ever, bill at motovicity, sean at ERL, NLR for a badass boost controller, tracy for letting us sleep in his toter, anybody else who let me sleep on their floor or helped split hotel costs, bret for help R&R'ing the tranny at Etown....... i know im forgetting a lot of people and i appologize...let me know and i'll gladely add you to the list!!

i have a lot going on personally right now and have returned my turbo. finacially i can not buy another one right now, so i will not be attending any more races this season with the car, but hope to atleast make it out to a couple more races to hang out and watch. sorry for the long post! i hope to be back out running harder and stronger next season!

Thanks Again Everybody

Joe Simpson

Just wanted to give a few shout outs to some folks that helped me all season long. My 2006 Race Season has ended sooner then expected. My motor decided to call it quits after 3 Hard years of beating the snot out of it. May the short block rest in 50 different pieces.

Default my season is done would like to thanks some people!

Well since ive seen a few post like these already i thought it was my turn. I would like to start by say thanks to anyone and everyone that lent a helping hand with me this season. I learned alot this season. My year didnt end the way i wanted it to. Blowing the motor back at atco in july, But i couldnt be happier. I gained alot of expericene. I made due with the horsepower i had which was very low. I still manged to pull off a 10.59@137 at atco(ndra).

Well I've already start the progress of getting the car ready for next season which
i have very high hopes for. With what ive learned from last season. I think next season will be a better season for me.

Special thanks in no order.

Brian Ballard- for some advice and beating the **** out of me the 2 time we lined up

Jdogg- for helping getting the car down the track.

Brad@S-Fab for making me a damn nice manifold.

this was a decent freshman year for me, going from a 250-300 whp street car to a 540+ different story. i had alot of help along the way either with parts/time/knowlege/transoprtation/or hospitality.

these are in no particular order. and there is no way i could have done this without help throughout the season.

James and Jay at car version 2 ( our shop )
for countless late nights, and overnight tuning sessions. plus for giving me a place to work on my car, and use what i know to help you out.

Josh, Dan, and Erik at first state motorsports
for letting me pick your brains, the hookup on the kit, and the great work on the exhaust. plus the deal on the ERL block that i still need to pay for.

Spence and Ronnie at rhodes custom auto
for the cage and belly pans. stellar job. and i will be back for the chute mount and maybe a fender roll.

Joe Simpson and Fred Ellis at Tempest Racing
for the knowlege i have gained from them, and staying up til the sun came up for the NDRA at MIR to get on the dyno. i think i have asked joe more questions than anyone this season.

Jame, Mark, and John from Maz.
for answering every question i threw at them, for the hookup on the cams, (cant wait to get a clean pull with them) and for just being good guys to race with / against. if we needed a tool from them, they were quick to help.

Dan Back and back motorsports
you and phil have taught me how to drive the car. gave me the knowlege i needed to get the car where it is today. and cindi for keeping our bellies full.

Chuck w ( i cant even pronounce your last name let alone spell it )
for being my pit bitch. everything i asked of you, you did he hee. thanks bro.

Luke Cannibal
he hee for towing my non truck having *** to the track in may.
JP for lending me his truck for the may atco race.

Hojda for the great videos from atco.

Miller and boostfed terry for hookups.

and for the friends i have met this season. this was the best summer i have ever had. it will be hard to out do next year.

underpressure02, vaporboy, vtecthis, dan, cindi, phil, miller, kory, terry, racer stev, dennis, speediva, sheldon, dturbocivic, 2.0coupe, turbo-charged, donetoperfection, big tom, the maz crew, fmunk, rado, steve jung, felix medena, craig nyce, tim 11 sec civ, jamaican dave, buddy, joe's pop, matt with the supra, arron abomb, brian, arturbo, benzo, bart, wheelie will, and i know there is more. PM me please if i have forgotten.
