Default NGK iridium IX vs double platinums (5th gen)

I was looking to replace my plugs... online the Iridiums are cheaper than the 2x Platinum plugs, but I thought the Iridiums were better/more premium/higher quality than the 2x platinums?

Which one is considered the higher-end plug?

Any "downside" to the Iridium plug?

TIA

Well what was ur reasoning for going with those plugs ? Because performance wise i have heard coppers are better (NGK v-power). From what I understand the only real advantage is a longer change interval. But to answer your question Im pretty sure the iridiums are higher end.

Well, from what I understand, the Platinums are the OEM replacement...???

So I checked NGK's site, and saw that the Plats were more expensive than the "higher end" iridiums. ... so I thought to myself, what the heck! might as well get the better plug for less money.

Why are the copper plugs better, performance wise? I understand where you are comming from saying that the plats/iridiums are just for longer service intervals.

I was always told and have seen on here before that coppers burn hotter and was told that like race cars run copper.

The platinums are OEM and last the longest.

Yes it has been said that the coppers perform the best, are you gonna notice it? Meh... i doubt it.

When i first got my Prelude i searched and found the same questions asked, the Iridiums were by far the popular choice, they last longer then the coppers and were cheaper then the platinums.

NGK makes 2 iridium plugs. One is around $5 and the other is around $11.

One has a thicker core than the other. Not sure what a difference this makes. Look at sparkplugs.com

I agree, run either the copper or regular iridium. There both cheap.

I allways thought that platinum plugs burned hotter. I would just stick with the iridiums or coppers.

I have a 92 JDM H22. It had Denso Iridium. I switched to the NGK iridium. Now my H22 kicks butt. Ask Sleepy H22, he knows. Oh thats the lower priced ones. #6441 on the NGK box. I was not aware of any thing more expensive except for the OE platinums. They are about 10.00 each.
