Default Should I keep them or throw them away?

My current wheels on my ej8 right now are American Racing Estrella wheels which are 14x6, with 35 offset. They seem to weight 13.5lbs.

I was thinking of upgrading to some better wheels, or are these still good for perfmance/handeling? They seem to be a bit too narrow..right?

Could I put any good all season tires on them?

Keep them, or upgrade?

Thanks a lot.

They're fine (and they're not too narrow). Keep 'em.

Since you live in California, why would you want to put all-season tires on them? Do you often drive to areas with snow or frigid cold? If not, then there's no reason to get all-season tires. (Some people mistakenly think that all-season tires are needed for rain, but that's not true; all-seasons are for cold-weather handling. Summer tires are designed for rain as well as for dry weather.)

Yes. For example:

Yokohama ES100, 195/60-14 (very good dry performance, excellent wet performance, excellent treadlife)

Falken Azenis RT-615, 195/60-14 (outstanding dry performance, so-so wet performance, short treadlife)

nsxtasy - you seem to recommend the Yokohama ES100's a lot? Why?

Just throwing it there - 14inch rims have a small field for "performance" tires.

Yeah those are the rims that I have. Thanks a lot for your responses guys, I guess il keep the rims for now, and get new tires when needed. The tires on it arent too good, but they have lots of thread left.

I guess il just invest in some other suspension components.

You answered your own question. There are not very many performance tires available in 14" sizes. In larger sizes, there is a lot of competition among summer tires offering good performance at reasonable prices; the best entries in this segment include the Kumho Ecsta SPT, Yokohama ES100, Avon Tech M500, Dunlop Direzza DZ101, and Bridgestone Potenza RE750, all of which I recommend from time to time (and the SPT most frequently, since it usually costs significantly less). However, the ES100 is the only one of these tires offered in 14" sizes.

hmm, so if there is such a small ammount of good tires for 14's perhaps there is a need to upgrade?

if you go to a 15's then there are more option's for just as nsxtasy has stated...but from past experience the yokohama avs es 100 will not last that long roughly about 12000 to 17000 miles is about how long they last

What difference does it make whether there are two different tires available or ten? You can only use one at a time.

If you want to spend money on wheels, for whatever reason, go ahead. But as long as you can get tires for the 14's, you don't need to.

Not true. Most people get anywhere from 25K to 35K miles on the ES100, sometimes more. On our GS-R, we got over 40K on our last set.
