red line problem
i have a 94 civic ex, when i bought it, it wasnt working i got it started i changed the intake, exhaust, fuel filter, distubutor cap, ignition rotor, i put seafoam. when i first got it started before i changed any thing it would red line at 4500 rpms, after changes it would go at 62000, now that it has gotten colder its up 2 6700rpms. does any one know what can be the malfunction.
I'd say it wasn't red-lining at 4500, it was just running like *** and the ecu saw that so it killed ignition... either that or an extremely clogged fuel filter and it just couldn't get enough gas.... low on oil can cause a similar symptom when vtec tries to engage.... I have no clue why it's gone to 6700 but I do have to question why you're continually testing redline in your car.....
i hate limp mode gosh i ran a 13.2 in limp mode i have yet to run my car out of limp mode my damn dizzy throwing codes i need a new one there so damn much though but check fule filter new sparkplugs/wires check to see if you have alot of build up in the head
i wasnt testing it out like crazy, the first time i wanted to see what the car had then i changed the fuel filter and it was better but it "red lined" at about 5100 rpms. then i changed every thing and i wanted to see if there was an improvement and it went up, the last time was when some guy in a yellow dx automatic with a carbon fiber hood pulled up and thats when i noticed it had gone to 6700, but like i said there was a cold front
