Default Mild steel intercooler pipes, what to do about rust?

I am making my own short intercooler pipes, and I am using mild steel. What I need to know is, I know that m-steel rust really easy and I am going to be painting them, but what about the inside?

I am worried that if there is any rust on the inside it could get sucked up into the TB and in to my motor. Any suggestions would help thanks.

You can see some of the pipes I have already painted.

If rust were to build up inside the charge pipes, I would assume that it would only be surface rust. I dont think chunks of rust will come off and into your TB. How about spraying the inside of them the best you can or send them off to get powder coated.

Ive had mine for about 2.5yrs now and theyre mild steel. I got lucky though my turbo seals blew out cause my drain line got kinked so they filled up with oil and **** so theres not much rust in them, at least last time I checked there wasnt. There shouldnt be any water getting in there anyway so you shoudlnt have to worry, stainless isnt really that much more expensive though, maybe $60 or $70...

I use mild charge pipes. I just paint the outside and leave the inside alone. I've never had any rust problems. Even after a few years of daily use the inside isn't rusted at all.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Ditto.

I had mine for over two years, and there was never any problem, unless you start pushing salt water instead of boost, I wouldn't worry about it.

I've done lots of charge pipes in mild steel as well, either powder coat or paint the outside and you are good to go, I have had zero rust issues.

powder coating won't help and will jsut cost you more than a can of paint. If you really wanted to do the inside, look into getting it plated. Maybe a nickel plating or something. Plating involves liquid and can cover hard to reach areas that a powder gun can't even imagine spraying into.
