my exaust sounds like CRAPPPPP
i dont know how to put this. so im gunna do my best
i will start by explaining my sittuation. i have greddy evo catback 2 w/ 4-2-1 dc header. it sounds decent while its ideling.. but when i drive past 3000 rpms it sounds like a FAT exaust leak. for example. i will be driving down the street and ill pass a fence on the right, and i can litterally hear a leak bouncing off the fence. the flange at the rear axel had half a gasket left in it when i took the flange apart. so i bought some liquid gasket. followed directions that sealed that HUGE leak. water was litterally spraying out when i reved the motor. anywho.. there are now 2 more flanges.
The flange in the middle of the car didnt seem to leak but i still rubbed liquid gasket around the outside of it and let it sit overnight just incase there was a leak.
The last flange is the one that connects the 2 pipes to the 4 from the manifild. this one is really tricky to get tight because the way the pipes are bent its impposible to get a wrench in there. but i still tightend them pretty hard.
now the questions. ..
what do u think i should do to make this noise stop?
could it be the heat sheild?
do u think the resinator could be the problem?
my brother ( who knows nuthing about cars) thinks its because my muffler is too big. thus making it sound like a slight whisle noise? haha i dont hear a whisle just a poopy leak sound.
should i cut off my evo 2 muffler and weld on a smaller one?
anyone else with a evo 2 catback and header notice this?
sorry about the poor gramar im just REALLY tired... ahhh thanks in advance

You need to replace all of the gaskets at the flanges from that liquid crap, and buy real gaskets. They will need to be OEM, and they will fit. Even with the aftermarket exhaust.
That is designed to go on the flange itself, not on the outside of the flanges.
If you still have the issue after putting in new gaskets, you have a hole somewhere.

on the back of the liquid gasket it says: replaces factory gaskets. simply evenly spread 1/8 '' thick beads over the area that needs a gasket. hand tighten screws. let sit for 1 hour. turn 1/4 turn every hour till tight. let sit for 24 hours.
i didnt put it on the broken gasket. i removed the gasket and then followed directions. on the flange by the rear axel it worked great!!! no more leak at all. now the middle flange still had the stock gasket IN tact. i only put the liquid gasket on the outside of the flange. (around the crack where the 2 flanges meet ) i only did that JUST incase that one had a leak. which i didnt notice.
now the 3rd flange that connects the 4 pipes to the 2 pipes didnt have a gasket. only 2 steel rings. that were suposta seal that.
where would i find new gaskets by the way? autoZone and schucks dont sell them.

nevermind i just double read what u said and realized honda would probly sell the gaskets. ha ha
one more question. why dont u like liquid gasket.? most of the shops around here use it, they told me to do it.

And from my experiences, liquid gaskets do not generally work on hot exhaust parts. Except it is a very high temp red RTV silicone.

i have the stuff for 1500 degrees its red.. and it is also silicone.
so about the flange where the 4 meets the 2... i really have a hard time beliving those 2 rings will stop anything...

Then care to explain why Honda and multiple other manufacturers use donut gaskets regularly and have never had a problem for many years?
I am guessing that is your problem. Just go with OEM, you can't go wrong.

k red. now where on that exuast diagram on honda automotive is the gasket for the rear axel flange gasket? from the pic it kinda looks different than the evo's gasket. i would think its number 13 do u? http://www.hondaautomotivepart...+PIPE
First you say you needed the gasket for the manifold to B pipe, now you are asking if its the correct one at the rear......
More than likely, if it was like my cat back exhaust, then the rear axle flange is different than OEM. But to awnser your question, yes, it is a donut gasket. You will probably need to go to GReddy and get a gasket, or just buy a 2 hole universal gasket.
