In over my head (no pun intended) *loooooooong*
I'm new here, just thought I would share.
I'm a Nissan guy, and I bought a '92 hatch figuring it would be a reliable winter beater/daily driver while I rebuild my SE-R. I bought the car super cheap from a friend who blew the motor, but sold me the car with a 94' D15 ready to go to replace it. So, the old motor came out, and while putting the old auto tranny on the new motor, forgot to remove the dowel pin and cracked the tranny case. Fluid went everywhere, and we swore about it. A lot.
So, I decided to do an auto -> manual swap, as I found a good deal on an Si tranny in cherry shape. Easy enough...I researched it here, bought the parts, and started going to town. Then....I came across a deal I couldn't resist....a Z6 head.
So, I picked that up for $150 and decided to do the mini me. Simple enough.
So, after buying a Z6 dizzy (I found out the other B & D series distr. that we had kicking around weren't compatable), converting the P06 to a P28 (soldering is phun!!), some 9.3 mm wires, plugs, Y8 head gasket, ARP head studs, EX cluster, manual flywheel & bolts, shifter & shift boot, pedals, hydraulic lines for the clutch, new bearings, fluids, master & slave clutch cylinder, header, intake, and other various stuff, my cheap winter beater turned into an expensive project. My SE-R is pissed and feels neglected.
Additionally....its been an utter nightmare...one problem after another. First we got coolant in the head bolt holes, lost a dowel pin on the head, can't find the valve cover hold down nuts and bolts, had a hell of a fight with teh automatic shift linkage, broke the gauge cluster bezel (good thing I had a spare in the back) and today found out the factory hydraulic line second half is actually from an integra. Today I finished the new pedal install, and I am about ready to put the steering column back up off the driver seat.
I'm worn out....anyways...pictures after reading my small book.
Pulling the D15 head.

The new motor; 38K miles when it was pulled! You can still see the swirls in the cylinder walls.

Si tranny

My pretty Z6. I sanded the letters down to bare aluminum; looks much nicer now.

EX intake, manual TB, & SI injectors

I'll have more up soon!

Haha, welcome to the addiction. Although seeing as you have a SE-R you're rebuilding, it's not fair to say you didn't see it coming.
