Default Z6 v.s. B7 Tranny ?

Hey guys , I just wanted to say first that you guys have been very helpful answering my questions & i definitely appreciate it ...

Well I drive a Mini-me automatic 4 dr. , I know ... i know ... but i kind of the like the pro's of an automatic compared to my 5 spd. i used to have but back on track ... I'm currently running the B7 transmission in my car & i was just wondering ... Is the Automatic Z6 tranny better than the B7 auto tranny ? I know 5 spd. wise the Z6 is like "the" tranny to get , so i was just wondering if it was perhaps the same way auto wise ...

but lastly i'd like to imply that for the time being i'm actually happy with my automatic and wouldn't be doing the 5 spd. swap anytime soon , so as much as you guys can try i'm pretty stuck on the Auto ... atleast right now

i say the y8 tranny is the "tranny to get", unfortunately budget constraints prohibit me from using anything but the b7 for now. oh well, i can just lie and say that the longer gears make me faster cuz i can keep in boost longer, as long as people can buy that i'm in business lol.

and good luck with those auto trannies, there aren't many people on this site who run with/like them. the gutless honda automatics are what keeps the gm ecotec car faster for now in pro fwd class, as soon as honda guys make an adapter plate to fit a built gm auto tranny in then honda will be kickin *** in that class.

the z6 and y8 tranny are the same gearing wise... the y8 tranny has stronger forks because there steel...instead of aluminum like the z6's........so if you can go for a y8 instead of a z6.... but if you can easily get a z6 over a y8 then just do that

I find y8 trannys harder to find and they are usually a hundred bucks more than z6 trannys. I always see people comparing the shift forks, but I have yet to see anyone break their shift forks before.

what sucks is around here (TN), anything that says "VTEC" on it is automatically overprices. single cam z6 motors around here go for $700-800, and thats just a long block. its freaking ridiculous. thats why my next project is gonna use a built ls, i can get a full ls swap for around $750, nobody wants it because its non-vtec.

He's asking about AUTOMATIC transmissions.

Honestly I don't think there's any difference gearing wise.
