hey guys i got my koni yellows and ground controls, the only part missing is the ground control spring insulator, which i dunno what it looks like, my spring insulators have like a 12mm inner hole, i think what i have to do is make the hole in the spring insulator as big as the koni shock body? so that the bumpstop can go thru the spring insulator and actually into the top hat hittin that bushing, right now i have only like 1" of suspension travel in the back, and like 0.2" in the front, and the car rides like ****, so im gonna raise it until i figure out how to fix it
the car is a 91 accord, and they dont make extended top hats for it
Might have to make my own.
Anyone have pix of the ground control spring insulator, i think its black? thanks a lot

there is NO oem spring insulator, i have a spring insulator from another set of sleeve-overs, its the part that goes into the top of the spring and keeps it from moving around, aftermarket springs are a lot less diameter then stock so they need these, in the pic below its the red part....
I think you mean the piece that is like #10 in the pic above right? You remove the stock one and put on the GC one. I'd just call GC and ask if they can send a set to you. The ones that GC provides are poly urethane.
or are you talking about the metal collars that the shaft goes through like this?

if so, yeah you need 12mm ones. You can probably get them from koni-na.com

in the pic off of ebay sleeve-overs above, its the red part, i guess its #10, im not talking about the metal cylinder thing. Is it a bad idea to run the setup without the spring insulators?
alright. i get it now.
youre comparing these cheap generic ebay kits to ground controls.
GC for hondas dont have those machined, aluminum and anodized "spring isolators". ive never seen them used. maybe theyre for macpherson strut cars. dunno. but thats why we are confused.
GC sometimes includes poly urethane spring cushions. its not much wider nor have a smaller ID than the spring and will fit the ID of the spring itself. its just to prevent metal to metal contact from the top of the spring and the top hat mount.
actually, some GC springs will fit in the STOCK rubber spring cushions. #10 in the picture. you should just see if that works. if you dont have em, get em. or get the poly ones from GC.

GC will NOT sell me the poly ones, they say they dont even have enough for the kits they sell......I always thought that if i dont put those aftermarket ones on the spring will just wobble around and touch the shock body too? I have koni yellows with ground controls made for koni yellows. Im gonna see what i can do, i have the old "spring cushions" from my shitty sleeve-overs, im prolly gonna just make the middle wide enough for the shock body to go thru, for now i raised my car cause i only had about an inch or so of suspension travel and the ride was just horrible, thanks for all the help guys, hopefully i can do without the GC Spring cushions

You have the Koni-specific GCs right? This pic shows the koni-specific setup with the poly inserts. I think the ID should be large enough for the whole shock to fit into it.
