Default Total Loss?

Well its my friend's hatch we where driving on the freeway and a tire blew out and he lost control and ended up in a ditch we're all fine no one was seriously injured.

The door doesnt close right and theres a dent in the roof front suspension looks toast. Will the insurance claim this as a total loss? and if so should we buy it back or part it out? he has full coverage insurance and this is michigan if that makes any difference.

Nah that wont be a total loss. To be a total loss half the value of the car must be damaged (I think). But dont go off my word I could be worng.

I doubt it will be a total unless maybe it will need a sub-frame, but even then i doubt it. Don't think the dent on the roof is from the frame, seein how the rest of the car looks in the pics. Usually you'll have a buckle above the quarter window if it was hit hard from the back, and nothing from the front end damage would do anything to your roof. good luck with the repairs. If you lived in utah i could write you an estimate at my shop and would know for sure.

I think it could possibly be a total loss.. If there is a dent on the roof that could possibly be from the frame bending and if the door doesn't close the same anymore then that could also be from the frame bending... But either way if the frame is bent, then I think they will total it out.. But don't quote me on that...

Depending on the insurance company, to consider it a total loss, the repair cost will be between 70-80% of the value of the car. I work in a body shop.

I can't see **** but from what you say I say it's fucked .

If the door's not closed that means the whole chassis is twisted (or you coulda just been on an angle).

See how it is in the daytime....on level ground and such..

from the looks of it all u need is a new front and rear bumper, minor work on the hood (maybe), fix ur fenders and as far as i can see thats about it (obviously theres more to it than that) but if the car still starts then i say rebuild it, thats what im doing. if ur door is smashed like mine is it mite cost about $300 at most to fix. if i were u i wud take the time and fix it cuz aint nothing like losin an ek but good luck with w/e u do
