It's an honest question asked by interestingly enough someone who is your classic "domestic buff." And I must say that I am intrigued also.

I never really got into the whole import scene so this should be a learning experience. I'm guessing a turbo, and an engine swap. I'm also interested in how much this costs."
Now here are some guidelines which I think are reasonable. No RWD conversion, inline-4 motors only, and don't worry about streetability.
There have been interesting responses. But I figured some of you guys would know alot more about it. So here I am, asking for some wisdom from the FWD drag racing gods.
For a start, the basic seems to consist of a H22/B16/18 swap, rebuilt tranny with a high final drive ratio, single turbo setup, and possibly nitrous as well (200 wet shot?)

Finally an all motor Civic pushing into the 9s, impressive: http://www.ericksracing.com/id104.html

in a word MONEY.... Here's the basics I can think of off the top of my head:
-full custom cage built to certain specs(if you ever want to race it on a track anywhere.)
-some kind of fully built motor, any dohc vtec motor(turbo would get you into the 9s cheaper than going all motor but not much)
-close ratio tranny gears
-LOTS of tuning
-slicks
-A LOT of weight reduction(more CF/fiberglass and lexan the better)
-good suspension....and even better brakes...maybe a chute?
after all that just hope and pray

I agree but in 3-5 gears because the 1-2 gear need to have longer gears to help put torque on the ground and get more distance as you reving to the revline. Because fwd will never have the traction of a 4wd so fwd car should figth it back witch distance. So when 4wd jump first and they shift 2 gear fwd car are still on 1 gears and catch them cause still are 1 gears XD.
just my opinion, regards
