Default B-series top mount with p/s pics

I don't post much and definitely don't start threads much, but I just finished a manifold for a friend of mine and wanted to post some pics. Critique all you want, good or bad (I am not asking for any advise). I know that I like to look at pics to see what's out there and I know other people do too.

Build Specs:
Miller 180SD
HTP Pyrex cup with gas saver (best money spent)
Red 3/32 Tungsten
1/16 308L welding rod
100% Argon set at 15-20
Amps are anywhere between 60 and 85ish depending on which part I was welding (made 2 passes wherever I could)
BMC flanges
Sch10 304L bends and straight (I made the collector myself)

Here are the pics:

Some mock up pics:

I don't know how he is going to run a filter on the turbo but we'll figure it out.

have you mocked up a downpipe yet? the manifold looks good, im curious to how the downpipe is going to fit with the oil dip stick. also a 4" downpipe? thats usually the case with a top mount.

Nope he wants a 3" DP, and the DP will work but checking the oil will be an event (luckily the dip stick is bendable and we'll probably bend it right or left) But yes it will all work. That's the best turbo position I could come up with, with the obstacles I was given

I test fitted it today and it works perfectly with the wastegate and turbo, no clearance issues at all. I'm going to take it to a local place for ceramic coating next week and will hopefully start the install on the car when I get it back

i think you'll have a better chance of getting a filter on there compared to every other top mount i've seen.most put the turbo right up against the rad support.check the K&N site-they have hundreds of filters in every shape you can imagine.

good work

Looking the design I think if you take a couple pie cuts of a tight radius bend off the turbo and run the DP parallel with the length of the engine you should be able to clear the dipstick with no issues whatsoever

Dump tube should be the easiest thing to fab EVER It's in an EG civic right? Doesn't matter. No front crossmember FTW!

One of those mushroom filters would probably do the trick nicely for that location.

what's the point? i mean, you could have gone ram horn or some othe bottom mount design... you gain nothing buy going top mount and then still only running a 3" downpipe...

Thanks for all the positive replies. As for the down pipe I don't see it being a clearance issue at all. The reason we're running a 3" DP is because that's what the owner wants. I'm sure I could squeeze a 4 inch-er in there if I tried but that's not what he wants. BTW Marti, you could still change your mind, I haven't made it yet.

Biggs you say the word, I still have that Jizzer motor sitting there. Listen.... it's calling for you. :whisper: b i g g i e

BTW ManBearPig4silly, it's a DC not an EG, probably more clearance in the DC

I know Ben has some 4" but it's crazy expensive compared to the 3" I have, but I know he is dieing to get rid of it. Do you want to run 4" all the way to the back?

The point is that I wanted something different, I never really liked the way a ram horn manifold looked and when I first saw top mounts, I knew I had to have one. I'm gonna go with the 3 inch DP because I just don't see the point of a 4 inch, maybe if I had 4 inch piping going all the way back, but I only have a 3 inch thermal. Also, the car isn't a full blown drag car (yet ), it's mostly for the street as it is my DD.
