Well, I guess you shouldn't have posted it then, volcom1887.

In regards to the problem at hand, DieMaster, I haven't double checked this with my car, but I believe that it's normal operating procedure for your car to flash the check engine light. If memory serves me right, mine does that as well, and it's typically normal.

Matt has already said it, but I will say it again.

If you have nothing to help out with someone's problem and just want to make yourself look like an *** because you want to try to be cool by bashing on someone who wants to learn, then you need to shut the hell up.

DieMaster, sorry I didn't get your other PM's last night, I was out cold. It was a long day with work and then the meet. But to awnser your question, I believe that the CEL does blink on our cars when there is a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code). When I installed my intake, I thought I needed to unplug the Intake temp sensor, which I forgot to plug back up, and it threw a blinking CEL.

Take it to Advance, Checker, or Autozone and see if they can pull a code from the ECU. If not, have them reset all the codes, and see if it still does it.

If it does it then, let me know. I can get with my parts manager and see what he thinks. 27 years of experience should be able to figure that out next to my measley 8.

Is it the check engine light? Or the maintenance required light. If it is the latter, then you should change the oil and reset the counter (hold stick button in, turn ignition on, count to 20, release stick button, all done).

If it is indeed the check engine light, maybe got to Autozone to get the code read? I have never heard of the check engine light blinking before now. Usually is just stays on.

The engine light will go off for anything like, air tubes not tightened properly (intake tubes not tightened so there is a slight leakage of pressure/air). You will also need to check your oil level, and do it when the engine is cooled down rather than hot you'll get a better and more accurate reading. If your oil lvl is low the engine light will turn on and stop your revs from passing about 3800 revs.

Basically just check the basic maintenance check ups to see if there is any problems there.

In regards to it being the maintenance light, it is just to do basic check ups on the engine and car parts, such as rotors, pads, oil, filters (intake and oil, etc), etc. If it's anything major rather than this I would suggest getting your ECU read just like REd stated.

Oh and if it is anything minor as above and you've done it and your car reads fine. Give it like a day for the ECU to recheck everything and your light will turn off or if you wish for it to be off right away, you can simply refresh the whole system. Disconnect the plugs from the battery. (have fun setting all your electronic settings back to your preference.

yes it is the check engine light nothing to do with the maintance. if it was i would have said maintance.

i read the code P0500 VSS malfuncton so i know why that is. the clip on the vss plug is missing.

anyway i should have said this b4 it blinked 5 times AFTER i erased the code but B4 i started the motor. but it dosent do it anymore. i was under the impreson that obd2 didnt flash the light unless theres a serious problem present that will destroy the catalitic converter. if theres a code present the light should stay on untill it's fixed right? as it did with me.
