Phantom LSD??? What do you think?
I Just bought one of these for my LS Integra because I have to go in and rebuild the tranny anyway. The car is my daily driver, but I will be at the strip almost every weekend. Has anyone ever used one or known anyone who has. Let me know

Haha, now that we made this guy feel REAL welcome. Id sell it. They are junk, IMO, get LSD.
Im not saying this because Im biased for LSD, but you have a few testimonials here.

Well, aside from a lot of the rumors going around, they aren't that bad. If you're making just moderate power, then it's fine and you don't need to be spending crazy amounts of money for a real LSD.
Two of my friends in turbo hatches are running with Phantom Grips and running 11's consistently.
EDIT: The engine builder/installer that we are friends with tells us that they are given a bad name when the unit is just thrown in. He spends many hours on it shimming it, grinding it to perfect specs then putting it all back together.
You can also go the route I went.....try to get your hands on a used one. I got mine for about $400 shipped for a JDM ITR LSD.

I use the Phantom Slip and for drag racing it is honestly all you need. Never had any slippage with mine. No complaints yet. As for this being a true LSD, it's not IMO. I would NOT recommend this for an autocross setup... but for the strip it suits its purpose. Sounds like that's all you really care about anyway. Good Luck.

Phantom Grips are a bad idea!!!
As everyone know, LSD makes it so that both wheels can turn to privide better traction. And the phantom Grips do that. But the way the do that is to completely bind your spider gears together. By doing this both wheels will spin together and the torque will be distributed to both wheels, which is good for stright line acceleration. The problem is that, unlike a true LSD, both wheels must spin at the same rate ALL THE TIME with the Phantom Grip due to this. This is a problem when you make a turn. As you are turning (part of a circle) each wheel is a different distance form the center axis. Therefore, the out side will has to travel a greater distance than the inside tire in the same amount of time. So, the outside wheel needs to spin faster than the inside wheel. But the Phantom Grip prohibits that. This causes a lot of extra stress on your front end. It will definately cause your tires to wearout prematurely. Hopefully it won't break anything. But I definately think it will eventually cause your front end to fatigue as well. I'm willing to bet that you would feel something binding up or trying to hold your care back when you are creeping through a tight turn.
However, I have no experience with the Phantom Grip, and I do not know anyone that has one. But the theory doesn't sound very good (unless you only have to drive in straight lines). I, personally, would not get one and would not recommend it. If you are going to go through the time, effort, and money to rebuild a tranny, I suggest you do it right and get a true LSD.

My friend blew up his tranny at the track last year. The used tranny he purchased had a phantom grip in it. The tranny lasted for a total of 2 weeks before the dif blew. He was running a stronger clutch in the car, but was not racing the car at the time, the dif just let go.
That's the only experience I've had with Phantom Grip. That could've been a fluke, but I wouldn't use it.

I have one and haven't had any problems...
No chunking or binding and I have pleanty of pull in both wheels even through decreasing radius turns. I don't know how it works on the strip...but on the track it seems solid.
