Just 15 min ago my wife was out on our back porch smoking when a gold dodge stratus rolls up and stops behind my shop which is in the alley behind my house. Car shuts off and hooded bum walks around the shop with gloves and a screw driver. Looks both ways and at our house, doesn't see my wife, she sees him and he proceeds to our R and grabs the door handle. Wife jumps up and screams "Can I f*@king help you!" The guy high tails it around my shop and says "No I don't think so" jumps into the car and guns it out of the alley. My wife and I are a little shook up, but ok.
This makes me really pissed. I have been very careful as to not letting anyone know we have this car just due to a$$holes like this. Our R has a compustar alarm plus about three other security devices installed so I am no too worried about him physically tryin to start it and go, but none the less I can help worrying about when he tries and to come back. I can tell you this, Ill be ready and wont hesitate to smack him around a few times with a bat then call 911
Im going to bed( just got off work) and the R is safely put away in the shop for now.

A gold Stratus will stick out if you ever spot it again, around your shop or around town.

hey.. what kind of safety devices you have. my brother just bought a type r and we havent been able to get an alarm yet... probably next week but he was playing on gettin compustar.... and he wants it real safe so wat are other good safety devices? kill switch?
considering what just happened to him, i dont think devulging over a public forum exactly what layers of security he has is a smart idea...you can generalize, but details should be kept in wraps for obvious reasons.
your car is now marked buddy, so i would do any and all necessary steps to be prepared and be vigilant. all a**hole thieves out there are just waiting for the right opportunity for an R owner to slip and let their guard down....and it only takes that on time.
thank goodness for the wife
...if you're good with your neighbors, i would spread the word about what happened and ask people to keep an eye out for you from now on.

its not over yet, from the way thieves go after type r's im assuming they will be back. your wife now has the EAGLE EYE!!!
grood j0erb to the wife
Keep your R safe! It may be marked and make sure you're security is up to your peace of mind.
Time to locate all gold stratus in your area. Perhaps letting the police know (probably won't do anything). I'd have all your friends in the area be on the lookout for the Stratus.

I hope you take all percautions in keeping the R safe for a while now. Do everything humily possible, install camera looking over the R, get a big *** dog to sleep next to it, buy a automatic rifle, night vision goggles, set up trip wires so when so one trips it big spot lights go off, infared all around the R, and many others, PM me for more ideas.
I just don't want to see a thread started by you saying another stolen R in a week!

Tempting, but ultimately not a good idea.
Using a bat on a thief could land you in legal trouble, not only in the criminal sense, but in the civil sense as well. I don't know the laws where you live, but in Texas you can be sued for beating the living **** out of someone even if you're in the process of preventing a theft. The funny thing is, you can blow his brains out with a 12-guage (as long as it's after dark) and it's perfectly legal here.
Anyway,
to the wife for preventing property loss. Hopefully the miscreant won't be returning.
Oh, and if you're going to use a firearm, anything smaller than a .45 ACP is a pop-gun. 9mm's are only good at putting holes in paper targets.

wow good save.
But if that happens next time. I would suggest to be a little more careful than just calling out to the theft. For all we know he might have gun in hand.
R is important. But I am sure there are things more important than the car in life.
