h22 swap
im thinking about doing a h22 swap into a civic....does it give a lot of problems and are the parts cheap to buy...or should i go with another engine...im thinking about all motor with minor bolt ons...thanks for the reply
It's not the easier swap to do, B-series is easier to pull off. I personally love it, tons O' fun. Parts are relative, to a b-series, the mounts are necessary and little more expensive (HASport anyways). As far as issues with the swap, there is certainly the potential for more problems, removing stock mount bracket, new shifter, axles binding. But if you do it right the first time (don't skimp on axles and mounts) it can do come out quite well. I didn't have any major problems with mine when I did my swap, but it certainly wasn't an overnight affair.
IM if you want to ask specific things about my swap.

It'll be easy in the form that you can buy hasport mounts and axles for H22 into EG which will make it pretty much straight drop 'n swap.
You'll have to wire up a resistor box to keep the injector pulse even, but that's easy so I hear (never have done that). The only real hard part now is you still have to cut away at the inside to run the prelude shift linkage :-\.
I was looking into an H22a earlier and I priced a JDM H22a longblock complete changeover w/ mounts and axles for an EG would cost 2950 - for what, 180whp? Not to mention they suck for boost b/c of their walls... That with a more aggressive cam and I/H/E can put you over 200whp. That was from HMO, I'm sure you can get it cheaper but at the risk of higher miles and less warranty, etc.
I decided it's not worth it IMO, for 1/2 of that turbo-D will make the same hp w/ a bit less tq.

The H22 is fun but I mean...blah, iono, for hondas I like straight swaps, not having to cut anything like you do for the shift linkage..
EDIT:
Parts a bit more expensive and there's less info on it...asside from that it's not bad IMO.
