I'm about to replace my timing belt and want to know if the brand matters. In particular, I'm looking at the following ebay auction which uses a Conti/Bando belt. Does anyone have any feedback on the brand of the timing belt? In my search I've found that Gates timing belts are more expensive. Is there a reason for this? Thanks for your help

I have always endorsed Gates in my parts experience. I have sold many of them, and have never heard a bad comment about them. I have even used their timing belts for my own cars, and as well as their accessory belts. from me.

NHRA doesn't use them because they are flimsy. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Case in point: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1788302

I just ordered a timing belt, tensioner, waterpump and thermostat for $150 shipped. Cheaper than all of the aftermarket parts at the local stores.

Ok, I'm making progress.

I used the part number search for the timing belt and water pump:
Timing belt part no. 14400-P2F-A01
Water pump part no. 19200-P2A-A01

However, I can't find the tensioner. I'm using the following for a search:
Tensioner part no. 14510-P08-004

Now my problem is that they list 2 tensioner sets. Both sets are the same price but they have different product numbers. One is 18215 and the other is 18216. I have a 1997 Civic HX. Does anyone know what the difference is between those two tensioner sets? Thanks.

 

Why can't you just use the drop down menus?

It's under the same heading as the timing belt.
