The reason why I'm asking is because I'm looking into which plastiguage I need to buy? 0.001-0.003 green or 0.002-0.006 red???????

Wondering what you guys are running and what you guys consider to be acceptable for rod and main bearing clearance?????? I've been looking at my haynes manual and according to it the main bearing clearance is 0.0009 to 0.0017 with a limit of 0.002. While the rod bolts(b18a) is 0.0008 to 0.0015 with a service limit of 0.002. Does this all sound correct?

You want green.Yes those are correct specs for clearance.

 

Green .001-.003 is what you need.

The clearances we run are .0017"-.0021" for mains and .0017-.0019" for rods. Of course with more power you want to run a little looser tolerances. ERL/Darton does all of our machine work and sets our tolerances. We just double check them when the blocks return to us
