Payed $55 and got no runs in, AND THERE IS NO REFUNDS

there were 2 rounds of et and quick 16. 3rd got can due to crashes and oil downs

That's what sucks about Pomona-the track turns into a pumpkin at 6:00 PM no matter what. I was in the staging lanes for Quick 16 hoping for a good quick pass with the cooler evening air, but no dice

 

I got there at 9 and after tech and registration I still got no runs. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

 

I am sure for the pro class guys it was a great day, for me the worst race i have ever been to. Got there at 5:30 am with plenty of time since gates open at 7:00. Received my tech card and made it through the gates about 8:15. So far this is normal. This is where it starts getting out of hand. When i pull through the front gate i am made to wait right on the otherside of the gate along with another group of people for about 15 min we have to wait for an official on a golf cart to take us to the pits, and they make us pit where they want, not where i want, so i cannot pit next to any friends that have gotten through the gate earlier or are coming later. Then i unload the car, it takes me about an hour to get unpacked and get the vehicle ready for tech inspection (putting slick on etc.). I think this is normal time to get a car ready, nothing unusual. At this time it is about 9:30, they make the first class call for e.t. brackets. I head over to tech, wait in line for awhile (normal). After tech, i am instructed to pull to the side along with another group and wait for another track official on a golf cart to lead the group literally to the opposite side of the pit area. This is where we are suppose to sign and get our wristbands for driver and crew. At this point i though this was really weird, usually they give them to you right there after you are teched, and i started to get upset realizing that more time is going to be waisted. After waiting about twenty minutes the official shows up on the golf cart and says "anyone already with a pit stall does not have to wait, i told them to tell you guys this!". Now i am really upset, realizing that i just waisted twenty minutes for nothing while my class has already been called. On top of this i am still not ready to run because i have not yet received my wristband. I pull all the way over to the other side of the track to get my wristband, and i see it, along *** line going into an office. So i get into line. About halfway through waiting in line, it is already 11:30, and they close the lanes for e.t. brackets and call all pro classes. So now i realized that i have missed the first round and i have to wait for next call. When i finally get back to the pits it is about noon. They are running the pro classes. About 1:45 they are winding down the pro classes and guess what? It is almost 2:00. "calling all pro classes to the lanes". So another two hours goes by and as they are finishing these classes it is now 4:00. Pro classes to the lanes again. So about 5:30, someone either crashes or oils down the track, i cant remember, they make an announcement, "e.t. bracket sorry for the delay but we will not be able to get you guys in again today, but be here tommorow at 8:00 and we will run your class again at 9:00 a.m." Right then ir realize that i do not even want to come all the way back tommorow just to get possibly only one run in. I already waisted one day for this race, and i dont want to waist another. If i misshift or spin the tires etc. i will have waisted an entire weekend for nothing. So realizng that i am not coming back, and that i did not get not one run in, i am going to see if i can get a refund. My wife offers to go while i pack everything up. Do you know what they told her, "no refunds, we ran your class for two hours this morning so you should have gotten here earlier." Do you believe that? So after making enough of a fuss, they told her to mail in our ticket stubs and they would eventially send us a refund check. Total bs. And just to let you guys know, this was not just my story, this was the same story of everyone that was around me in the pits. Many spent the whole day there 12+hours and did not get to run once. For the pro class guys it was a great day, they got all their runs in and pretty much on schedule. I know that this is the way it is and people come to watch them race not us slower guys. But it was not like i brought some slouch, i brought a mid 12 sec car, respectable, and there was many faster cars there in the same class that did not get to run. I enjoy watching and respect all in the pro classes, but on this day i felt like my money was not as good as theirs. What do you guys think? Do i have a right to be upset?

Umm, I would have to say yeah. I thought it sucked only getting two runs in. I feel better about my two runs now, but really sorry for the guys like you

 

Sorry to here that.I'd be there in the morning and give it your best shot .Don't spin the tires or misshift.One chance to make a perfect run,all or nothin'.Good luck.

 

For the et bracket racers it sucked. And them not giving you the wrist ban on the spot and making you sign the waver sucked even more . They had two ladies doing it at the other side of the track for the ET guys. I am running street stock this year because last year it sucked **** in the bracket class.

...u could of tried to qualify for Q16, even though the cut off was in the low 11's i think...atleast u would have gotten your passes and then switched to ET brackets on Sunday....

I am dead in the first round tomorrow. At least I get to go watch the bikini contest.

 

Everyone in the brackets got screwed. Guess if you aren't sponsored by God you have no chance at pomona. I just wish the neighbors would quit their bitching so we could run till later at night. Event was run questionably, at best.

The NHRA did offer refunds to any ET Bracket drivers that did not get a pass down the track today. That was announced on the PA numerous times and carried around the ET pits by our track and tech staff. Any to my knowledge 4-5 racers came to the tower to get the info on a refund.

We are very sorry that the ET Brack racers did not get many passes down the track today. However, many racers got 2-3 hits at the track at 9am.

There were numerous oil downs and two accidents that threw the schedule way off track today.

It doesnt help that we have a drop dead curfew at 6pm (thanks again to our great neighbors in La Verne--by the way who build and moves into a home next to a drag strip?).

I know our problems doesnt make your day of sitting around and not racing any better, but we just wanted to tell you that we didnt plan the day like this.

There are time trials tomorrow at 9 am sharp - no issues teching cars or getting wristbands. For those of you that did not get refunds and are sticking it out for Sunday please get to the track early and be ready to run.

Again, we apologize for your lack of runs and look forward to a much better day on Sunday.

 

Thanks for clearing it up gary. I know we come off critical but some of us work REALLY hard getting these things together, and some of us got there really, really early and still didn't get to run. Nothing you can do about oil downs and curfew, though, we know that. Just wish there were more events at pomona, only descent track around here. PA system was really sketch to here, fyi, radio was great, though.

I was told to mail in my ticket stubs to get a refund by a member of your tech staff. Is this correct?

 

ALL ABOUT THE PRO's i being a ET1 only got 2 runs

thanks for announcing the ET's that we wont be running again til sunday morning waited the whole 3-4 hours of nothing they did not let us know that, it was it for the ET' trial

 

oh and not just that their staffing and supervision really SUCKS *** TOO!!!!

we got idiot racers and ricers flying by in the pit atleast 15-20mph

a stupid GUY in his black 350z DRIFTING in the pit area

and police who drives a undercover car that has nothing to do and tries to harass the ET racers as if they was going to gang bang

 

pamona always sux for et racers

 

FYI its spelled Pomona, The part i didnt like was the length of time for each clean up..

not too bad...i was mostly a participant on this one rather than a spectator so for those wondering about the bikini contest...i missed it
didn't see any of the races either...i spent the whole time at the pit trying to stay hydrated

i didn't even bring a camera to take pics of anything at all
