Default Trouble with GF's 98

She is getting a noise in the 1-2500k rpm range, sounds like a light "rapping" , nothing super bad, but still noticable. It seems to be more noticable when its winding down.

I think it may be knock, and I've heard of the sensors going bad. Any way to check for this, or anything else I can check to see if something is majorly bad?

knock sensor going bad I wouldn't think cause that. get your valve lash adjusted. They are probably out of spec.

How many miles are on the car? might possibly need a valve adjustment

It has over 111k, the problem went away and has since returned. It seems to be coming from the drivers side of the engine.

It has been burning oil quite a bit but we've been on top of it so far. If the oil had gotten too low it would be alot noiser, right?

I'm thinking it could be piston slap or knock, not sure tho its really a unique sound. Any way to check and see if it the valve train? I can pull of the cover and take a peek.
