Default del sol help please (1994)

hey yall, i think its time to get a project underway, and i think the winner is a 94 del sol around here. Its fully loaded with a nice a$$ D15b7, lol. anyways, i was wondering
1)is there any downside to a del sol that im not aware of, bsides the lack of space.
2)for an engine swap, what mounts do i get for a sol?? (92-95 mounts or is there "del sol"mounts?)
3) how bout mini-me build, whats involved in that.
4)all in all i want the cheapest route to getting vtec, sohc or dohc, i dont care, either way im going to be turboing it. So please, anybody give me some feedback on the involvement and money needed to do any of these

they are kind of heavy, drop a gsr motor in it, your stock mounts should be fine,

do not get hasports. your car will shake like there is no tomorrow. the vibration from the motor not moving flows into your car and your car shakes like a ***** in church. go with inovative mounts. they offer the same stiffness and they dont make your car shake at all. trust me. it will be good. and if you need and parts for a dohc for your del sol i have a garage full of parts that i just ripped out of a 94 del sol with a b16a3 in it so let me know. message me and ill give you my sn if you want.

for a stock motor the stock mounts will hold up well.
just as long all the mounts are connected it will be fine. no need for aftermarket mounts.

for a b series swap you use all integra mounts with a del sol dohc shift linkage.
hope that helped you out.

yeh thanks for the help yall, im not exactly sure about my goals yet, lol. Ive looked mostly into building a d16 turbo, but i cant pull apart my other civc now, so i decided on the del sol project. I know for a fact i def. want vtec. What pistons work in D15's?? same as d16's? or is there a dif company. sorry to sound so noob, lol, no experiance in this particular engine. thanks for the help (i dont have a particular budget right now, im just taking ideas, but h22 and k20 are out of the question, any good swap sites out there that sells everything i need??)

down side: heavy, tends to flex in cornering, more-so without the top on, door pannels tend to wrinkle alot, insurance is killer.

Also...well I'm not sure how much credability is to this (even though it doesn't have to do w/ handling) but I hear their targa tops tend to leak :-\. I never owned a del sol, but that's what I keep hearin down the vine, anyway.

Well the downsides I've noticed(compared to my old car...see sig) are:
-how heavy they really are(noticably more than a swapped eg hatch)
-flex without the top on is signifigant.
-The tops do have a tendency to leak if they are really old & beat up/cracked. Mine don't leak at all(luckily).
-Parts(used oem or aftermarket) are harder to find for them because they were only made for a short time.

However some of the good things I've noticed(when compared to my old car...again see sig):
-less interest from thieves(really, when have you ever seen/heard of a sol getting stolen?)
-they look great IMO (especially with just a few subtle mods like a lip and a drop)
-on hot days you can remove the top
-(not too sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing) but girls love them and I'm almost always being asked for just a quick ride (met my last girlfriend that way...like the 2nd day I had the car)
-if you don't like hauling lots of people/stuff around you have a very valid exuse

For the motor, there are way too many posibilities to list....you'd have to search what best fits your budget/goals.

they dont weigh but a few hundred more than a 92-95 civic.( i would guess a max. of 250lbs. more) Less of them on the road. as someone stated-chics love them.

depends on ur cash flow, gsr swap is the best way to go but if u want cheaper then b16, or ls vtec swap, mini me is a smaller version or should i say sohc version which includes 1.5 bottom and 1.6 vtec top, i got 1 b4...its allright but stick to the dohc its faster

del sols are not that much heavier than Egs, they just flex like ****. The top does leak on some cars, but all the 95+ have had revised seals. Any 92-00 civic part and integra part should fit in it....basically the same thing really.

Insurance is a killer because its considered a convertible...not as bad as preludes tho

I guess it depends on the company then...compared to my '92 CX, my '93 sol si is only $105 (roughly) per every 6 months so I'm only paying about 1000/year.
