nuespeed race springs
i have a 92 Si and want to get nuespeed race springs because they drop the car like over 2" and i love that look on a prelude. obviously im going to upgrade my shocks as well. does anyone have these springs? what are your thoughts on them? are they a harsh ride? any rubbing etc? any strut suggestions?
I don't have Neuspeed Race Springs, but I'm going to provide some input. Any spring that drops a Prelude more than 2" is gonna be harsh. 1.5" max would be wise. Unless it's a track dedicated car. The Koni Sport (Yellows) are the dampers you'll want to get with your lowering springs.
I would go with bilstein sport shocks. I just bought some for under $500 and they have a lifetime warranty even on lowered vehicles. I have heard great things about the koni's, but I wanted the bilstein warranty and have had great first hand experience with them. They are very easy to deal with if a shock does go down. My friends dad had to send one of his shocks back and they paid for shipping of the old shock and new shock, and it was on his doorstep in less than 3 days.
i want to get rid of the wheel well gap completely with 17s, so is 2" enough or could i go a lil less. i like the what mlow634 said about H&R springs being 2" and 1.8" that sounds like it would be good

GTFO newb.
i've had my neuspeed races with KYB AGX's for like half a year now, and i absolutely LOVE the ride. when i set the AGX's on the softest setting, its basically feels stock, and on the stiffest setting, i can take off-ramps at like 95
other NON-LOWERED preluders have gotten in my car and said it doesn't ride like its lowered at all.
i <3 how low she is

esedulerp5tenin - Your shock choice alone tells me to take what you have with a grain of salt. KYB AGX are decent at best, give them 2 or 3 years tops and then get back to us. Why not go with a set of koni's if you like adjustability or bilsteins if the warranty appeals to you. I may be new to this site, but an not new to the car scene.
I have read mostly negative reviews regarding the neuspeed race springs for the 97-01 prelude, although I am not sure what year this poster has.
H&R race springs on the other hand have produced nothing but positive reviews. I have first hand experience with the bilstein sport & H&R Race springs and I was very impressed, the car handled like it was on rails, but was alittle rough. What do you expect though they are the stiffest springs H&R makes. This is the setup I chose to go with in my 97 lude, but I will not be able to experience the suspension until I get the JDM motor in this winter.
You probably will not notice your shocks going for another 2 years or so because of the softer spring your running. Try running the H&R on your shocks and I'd give that setup 1 year max. Most sites you will buy the H&R Race springs from will say to only run the spring on a bilstein or koni yellow shock.
My point is that KYB is not even on the same level as bilsten & koni, thus in purchasing the KYB's I know your stardards are not nearly as high as mine. The H&R Race spring is much stiffer and has yielded nothing but positive reviews. The neuspeed race springs may be 30 dollars less expensive than the H&R's but if you want stiffness and great handling that 30 dollars is a must.
By the way, you have only been a member since april, that is alittle over a half a year, your not exactly a seasoned vet, nor do you know what your talking about.

originally i had the AGX's paired with neuspeed sports, cuz i didn't need anything too extreme. then i saw some dude selling neuspeed race's for $70, and i jumped on that chance. i know the AGX's are gonna blow eventually from this drop, but until they do... they stay.
i'm just telling him that neuspeed races on a daily driver isn't outta the question, and they dont give a bone-jaring ride like avalanch said.

You're probably taking way more than 50% of the travel when you drop the Lude to 2" or greater. You're gonna need some stiff springs to prevent bottoming out your dampers.
Everyone's experience is different. If the roads you drive on are in good condition, I can see how a 2" drop can be acceptable. Where I'm from that's just not the case. Besides, it's pain in the *** slowing down and taking every speed bump and driveway in extreme angles and still get the ocassional scrape.
A two inch drop does look good. But at what cost? I'm usually driving my car. Not looking at it parked on driveway.

I have the 2" drop and I dont have to worry about anything really...I mean there are a few curbs that I have to go up at an angle but even if I werent lowered I still prolly would because I dont like to hit a curb head on. (When I say a curb, I mean the ones at the end of a driveway that I rounded off at the top.) Everyone does have their own experiences and to each their own.
Wow some good reading here. here is my 0.2
I have had the Nuespeed race kit on my car since Jan of 2000 i love it so much i have stuck with it. The shocks i have had on it have been all Bilstein. Now the ride, exceptional! I have 190K on my 99 and i have put 170k on the suspension set up. I couldnt ask for a better set up, no bouncing, it handles like crazy and it is a pleasure to drive. I also have Supension technique sways and spoon strut bars. I road raced and auto X-d my car atleast once a month so i wanted the most extream ride i could at the time. The TIEN'S just broke out but i couldnt affrod the 1900 price tage they carried and the ground controll and koni yellow mod was just coming under wraps so i jumped on mine since i got a good deal from a shop going out a business.

Okay avallach has a point and ill give you my experience i lived in Oklahoma/Texas when i got my set up, the road are straight and well maintianed i loved the ride. Nothing but
I moved to Sacramento, NorCal, the roads in the bay area, San Fran are a little harsh, Still the drive was awsome lots of windy roads in the mountians of Tahoe and Saratoga mountians in San Jose. The race springs still performed well no bouncing, no bumpy ride. An occasional buttom out here or there in the city but if you ever been to San Fran you will know the roads are shitty. so
Now i just drove my car to Philly from Sacramento( before i came out to Korea) and the drive was awsome till i got to Philly. I dont know what the hell was going on in downtown philly but everyroad was being torn up in the city and the man holes were sticking out an easy 7 inches- i have never experienced such a pain my *** driving ever in my life, Even in a non lowered car the drive through the city was horrible.
It reallly depends on where you live. and how you drive.
If you live in a major city with bad roads i would not recommend this set up.
If you live in a rual area/city where the roads are well maintianed and you want to do some spirited driving especially on a off camber on ramp (like the " 4 Clovers" ramp in Irving Texas) i would highly advise with this set up.
Im here if you guys have anymore q's... Happy luding..

Here is my car. I'ts daily drivin and its got 190k on it.
With any lowered car below 1.5 you are going to have to negotiate speed bumps and driveways but i have been driving this bad boy for 8 years so i got it under control
Ahaha i wish, she is in storage in NC for the next 14 months. I do have some plans for her once i get back from here!

Same here I had them on gr-2's for a very long time until recently I bought some more stuck them on some koni yellows with and energy suspension bushing kit which I highly recommend for the koni yellows as the bushings fit perfectly on and I love the performance it gave me. MY buddy shauns got the d2 coilovers which are nice as well, but I love the combo I have much better as it feels more in tuned. As far as being too low its not bad. I never bottom out and I go through pot holes here and there, but the only thing getting the damage are the inside of my poor rims
.
AS far as ride height I think its perfect.
