i heard that the D2 sucks. and its not really compared with the koni yellows. it sucks about your blown shocks but i think the yellows will be much better than switching out for a pair of D2's.

that was a ball park price, but i paid 480 for mine awhile back, that was shipped. some times HT sponsers sell them for around there.

if you are paying over 500 shipped you didn't get that good of a deal.
Some of the guys over the internet are happy making 10 or 20 bucks off of each item.
I guess they could have had a price increase from koni, i bought the sports alittle over 3 years ago for that price. And had heard people were still selling them for that much

i spoke with koni and they said that the way they do their warrenty is that they switch it. you first pay half of list price for a new one so you can switch it. then you send in the damage one and when they inspect it and if it passes then i guess they refund it? but if it doesnt pass they will charge u the retail price.
i probably wont keep them if they wont exchange it. im cosidering other types of settups. since i got used to the terrible ride quality of busted shocks i wonder how much better if they were new?

When you would set up the warranty exchange with Koni, they will ask for your original purchase receipt which you do not have since you did not buy them new. Therefore there is no warranty claim to begin with. If you did have the receipt and paid the 50% off List price, they would review the shock when you return it. If the failure was decided to be a true defect in the shock and not something caused by the car, usage, etc., then they would credit you for that 50%.
List price on the shocks is $182 each and the going rate for mail order is 30% off list so figure about $127.40 and some companies will give free freight. Some might even sell a bit lower as well but don't expect much. there has been no price increase since April 2006 and the Honda shock prices were actually dropped considerably in 2005. Just some general background info.
The D2 units are no functional comparison to the Konis with Ground Control system. Maybe a little blingy, sexier looking as a package but far below in real function. If the rest of the system is working, you can be back on the road with better parts, most of which you already own for the least amount of money. Plus the new shock that you buy will have the warranty on it. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

i sometimes hear the rear making noise as far as damping noises i guess its noise when the piston moves down or something. is that normal or should i just get the whole set again.
do you know which site i should buy it from?

The shock functions by the piston moving up and down through oil and the oil flows thrrough the restictive valving passages to generate force. If the shocks are adjusted pretty tight so the passages are small and the shock is building a lot of force, it is not uncommon to sometimes hear a bit of a slurping or rushing sound as the oil flos through the restrictions. If they are tunred pretty tight, if some of the interior and sound deadening, etc. has been removed or if the upper bushings are really tight or replaced with a harder material, this can all magnafy the sound. In a basically bare car with a low compliance mount, the body shell can almost act like a speaker for little noises to pass through.
Don't worry about it at all.
