Looks pretty nice to me. You using a gas lense there or no? My welds looked like that prior to getting a gas lense. Afterwards they brightened up alot...all the black tinge they had here and there went away.

no lense right now, i learned to tig with a miller with a gas lense but im using a lincoln without one now. you think thats the problem? i also need to pick up a water cooled torch, i should get that and the lense at the same time.

I definitely think that would help. Mine looked just like that no matter what gas flow I used, how slow I went, etc. I got the gas lense and bam...gold and pink all over the place. Really brightened them up from the superior shield.

I have a Lincoln as well...the PTA17 gas cooled torch...just got some standard #17 lense parts and was good to go. Get the lense man....it's a must have.

Most people have good success with .045" filler rod and 1/16" electrode. I just learned on 1/16" and thats what I prefer. Just remember to do a root pass and then a filler pass. A gas lense will help a lot with your color also.
