4.9 final drive install distance collar?
Installing the distance collar but it appears that it just doesnt go over the shaft. Does this have to be pressed on?
migs - who is stuck with a disassembled transmission at the moment.

I acquired the JDM 1st gear, JDM distance collar and JDM needle gearing. I am using GEARX 4.9 FD. I dont exactly know where the problem is at this point. For some odd reason the distance collar ID is 1.5mm too small for the input shaft.

I have a new input shaft, thats 1 of 3 components that come with the FD. I am not sure where the problem is at this point. The builder can show me the problem, but explaining it over the phone to somebody who knows nothing about transmissions is almost useless (me)!
Well, the problem was my fault to begin with. I assumed that I needed the following parts:
1st gear 23421-P80-E30
Distance collar 23914-P80-E30
Needle bearing 91107-P80-E31
(For Sale: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1792090)
Well, it turns out that Gear-X final drive just fits into your stock transmission. From my understanding, the ATS needs the parts listed above where as the Gear-X does not.
The benefits of why I chose Gear-X over ATS, Mfactory, and SRR is that the parts are forged whereas its competitors are not forged. That is a huge advantage in terms of quality and it holding up. I purchased the final drive from KIWI WCHC driver. If you all are serious about upgrading the final drive, get with him.

After doing research, I did find out that Mfactory is forged: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1592797
Jeff had previously mentioned SRR was giving them the shaft. Shot peening was a method to make them stronger but was not having as much as success as with forged internals. I can tell you, the price that I got it for was by far the LOWEST in the industry for a final drive.
If you want more for your money, and more for less money, this is the way to go!!!!
