Default EGR

Ok this is on my friends 99 v6. anyway hes been getting the egr code for awhile. He just replaced the egr valve itself and the light is still coming on. I told him to clean out the port where the egr sits on with carb cleaner ? Can this be anything else ?

there is a bulletin on it from Honda.........call the local Honda dealer see if there is any warranty consideration

the kit includes a sleeve that you have to install.. you need to drill the egr passage bigger, clean it up and insert the sleeve ...
it comes as a kit from Honda , it also includes the egr valve

Forget the kit, just drill out the damn passage.. I've seen vehicles come back with the new insert clogged..

How does the sleeve prevent the deposit build-up from happening again?

How do you keep the drilled out pieces from falling back down the hole?

And lastly, is't drilling it out dangerous? Can't you drill through the side of the tube?

Thanks,
-Will

Does anyone have the answer to these questions:

And lastly, is't drilling it out dangerous? Can't you drill through the side of the tube?

Thank You,

Here's the service bulletin for you to help answer your questions

The new sleeve is smooth steel and the idea is that the carbon won't be able to cling to it as easy as the cast aluminum.
Special drill bit with a WARNING not to drill too deep.
You can blow out the chips from the intake with compressed air.
