I have a 91 automatic.
The engine cranks but does not turn over. It makes a pop/poof sound and thats it, any ideas about whats wrong? Possibly not getting fuel, but unsure.

check your timing belt.

 

check the rotor under the distributor cap too. happened to me on the highway car just shut off and it wouldnt start just backfired real loud every now and then. the screw came out of the rotor holding it to the dist. shaft.
