Default I'm stumped on what car to buy... need advice

So after being away from hondas (I had an eg which I didn't like, 2 integras, one of them being my swapped rs which was very clean and probably one of my favorite cars i've had, and I've had way too many), I'm ready to probably get another.

The choices are 00 ITR, 50k miles, great condition, mostly stock, not raced, etc...

brand new 06 rsx-s

or a used 03 or 04 evo or sti with around 35k miles(gotta check on insurance on these though)

I've wanted an ITR ever since I saw one, particularly after owning my integras. No car I've had compares to a honda transmission which is either the number 1 thing I love about a car, or the thing that pisses me off most usually... I don't live in a high theft area at all, so I'm not concerned about the car getting stolen. Whatever car I pick, it will be a daily driver. The only thing I'm concerned about with the itr is how people say its a rough car, the lack of sound deadening makes it annoying, etc... however lack of sound deadening with the windows rolled down at 8400 probably sounds pretty damn good ha ha. I would not track this car, maybe after a while I would, but I'd just appreciate the pleasure of driving it around and going on some back roads on nice days. Last thing I'll mention is I definitely enjoy having a rare car, makes you feel privledged to be an owner.

I love how the new 05+ rsx's look, great motor, great interior, etc... the thing is, its just another rsx, nothing special, but still a very nice car, and a well built honda at that. I'd want to mod one though, which I don't want to get myself into doing. If I bought a new one, it would be my first brand new car, this attracts me, nothing to worry about, warranty, etc.

Evo or Sti both look good stock, wouldn't wnat to lower them or anything, handle great and have good power stock. Great if I had to drive in the snow, 4 doors are practical, etc

I've moved on from trying to buy modded cars to buying newer cars which are stock and I'm pretty satisfied with in stock form. Any advice from you guys are appreciated. If I lived in a state which had year round warm weather or no snow, the choice would be simple - s2000 no doubt about it.

Thanks for the help, and yes I've used the search, just getting some other opinions

New si was a serious option, the dealerships are only getting about 1 or 2 a month though... I like the styling of the rsx quite a bit more.

Can you compare the si and R for me, as far as if you could only have 1, and it was your DD.

As far as turbo cars, I've had five of them, I prefer NA, but turbo's arent bad

I'll never own a german car (not all brands, most) again for a while... some of the quality issues with them for how expensive they are a joke. Not to mention maintenance costs...

I'm in a serious bmw-hate mode lol.

There are German cars that are better than BMWs in terms of reliability too...like the company that starts with a "P". I've been very happy with their performance indeed, don't think my old R with Zeal/SWIFTs + Mugen 26mm sways could keep up with what I have now

I won't deny their performance, but there is ALOT more in a car than performance...

That said, lets get back on topic

Get the R we could another one in the area. Plus we have Putnam near by so you can track if you'd like (I don't know why you wouldn't). Good places in town to autox.

So far I feel pretty same having my R here. I did just buy a '94 RS for my daily driver though ($700).

I daily drive an R, and regularly ride/drive my friends new Si.
I do not like driving the Si, and I don't enjoy riding in it very much either.
Comparing these 2 cars is difficult to me, they seem night and day different.

As for "roughness", the R at stock ride height was never a problem here, and our roads are f'ing terrible.
With stock springs/Koni yellows it can be rather uncomfortable at times, but still not too bad.
The lack of sound deadening material has never bothered me, and inside the car with the windows up and stereo on, its not even noticeable, heck even with the windows down and stereo off its not bad.

It all depends really, if you drive alot, and over alot of rough roads, I would say get the RSX-S.
Also, it being a "new" car you will have longer to enjoy it before you have to start doing alot of maintaining.

Check the ins on an ITR first. It woudlnt surprise me if it was the most expensive option.

If you are a practicalist and want shear speed, ITR is not the one you want unless you are going to mod the heck out of it, which is going to put your budget around 22000- whatever you wanna spend. STi or evos should be what you want, especially it is simpler and cheaper to get more power out of a turbo 2.0L than a 1.8L NA.

otherwise ITR is a good choice. RSX is too much designed for comfort i think. If you like the power of K20A you can always swap one into the ITR.

modding the hell out of an itr wouldn't make you a practicalist if you wanted it as a daily driver...

I don't want shear speed, I want fun to drive, reliable, practical

The Type R has all of those things you just mentioned. The new SI is big, heavy, and butt ugly. The new RSX will be a bit faster, but, not nearly as fun to drive unless significantly modded, IMO. With the AWD turbo cars you mentioned, they are fast, but don't have the same lovely styling of the ITR. Also, I would highly doubt you could ever get a high mileage, trouble-free life out of one, like you can in the R. I have driven all of these cars more than once, and I believe the R is the most fun, and well rounded car.

I said this before, and I will say it again:

If you are trying to decide between an ITR and other cars, most likely the ITR isn't for you. People who own them do so because there is no other car on their list, unless they are fortunate enough to own multiple cars.
