Trying to persuede my buddy to relive the dream-NORCAL
Spring 2001-
My friend is always at my house helping me work on my 89 CRX Si w/ a JDM B16.
He drove a clean Camaro, but Camaros suck. It caught fire one night. He was now in the market for a new ride. M3? NSX? Friebird? It was hard to convince that martha fawker, but there we were. Acura of Concord. Two Pheonix Yellow ITR's.
I have to admit. I was quite envious. So there we were. Driving home from the dearlership in a brand spanking new ITR.
Few months later.
Spoon city. Brand new Jdm HID ITR front end. Car was complete. Then came "the incident."
He was cut off on the freeway and spun around and hit the wall. After a short stay in the hospital, he and his girlfriend at the time were OK. The R was not as fortunate.
He has left the game. We went from spending every spare moment we had working on our cars and planning mods to hardly ever kickin it.
I have been trying to get him to resurect a new R, but he just says "it's a money pit",
and "I'll never own another R again." I know deep down inside he wants to do it. I tell him how much cheaper parts are now that everyone is into JDM. He starts to get excited, then acts like he doesn't care. I'm gonna try to get him to change his ways, but we'll see what happens. Wish me luck.
Ceck out his old ride.

Not as much as in 2001.
ITR parts are much more widely available.

It's still true though. Its not really a matter of how much parts cost, cause one can always find excuses for new parts, etc. Anyone with a hobby like cars, or cameras, or computers, can tell you its basically a never-ending money-pit.

Just curious, why do you care so much about his decisions? I assume you 2 are not kids and he can probably make a good judgment for the sake of himself.
I know he wants to get back in the game.
He's only making excuses because he can't
exactly afford the parts he had before. I try
to show him ways to cut cost, and he says, "really!? Damn, that's cheap!"
And, " ITR's have dropped in price. I miss my baby."
He wants to do it. And I'm just trying to help him shake
any negative thoughts he might have. Back in the day,
if one of us needed money for a part, we'd be happy to
help out. I'm trying to help him again.
No matter what car he got, I would help him out. But I
know this is his dream car. Relive the dream!

We actually went to the dealer twice.
The first time, there were two PY ITR's.
Beautiful sight it was.
We went back to pick one up the next day,
there was only one left. While we were inside
signing the papers, someone stole the shift ****.

Just a mere suggestion. Let your friend make the decision on his own without any persuasion.
God forbid but it would really suck if something were to happen again, be it another accident, or even theft.

Back to the subject, I have dreams of doing things to my R that are far beyond my financial ability @ the moment. But, I will get there eventually & enjoy the journey all the way. It's a good thing to have friends like you in life that will always be telling their friends not to give up.
Stay @ him!
