Default Project EG tear down and buildup thread --- 56k intense

Hey guys, thought I'd make a new thread about the tear down process and buildup that will start to happen to my si hatchback.
I am dedicating this thread to a long overhaul and constant updates of what we are doing to the car to improve the performance/handling and appearance.
So be patient and myself or mr.rhtuner will update this thread as often as we can with new parts and work done to the car

enjoi

Bought the car in July 05 and this is how it looked like...

we ripped off the 'interesting' lip kit

installed the OEM Si front lip and dropped the car on coilovers. Took off the 16" kosei wheels for now...

bought a 5zigen border exhaust

the car is fairly stock and pretty simple

What am I checking out here?

old and tired d16z6 FTL!!!

put the 16" wheels back on for now

the car has been sitting that way for a while, but within the past 2 months we started to plan a few things out and put the car to work.

Also note...the car came with a full sound system. 2 subs in the back, 2 amps and all that audio ****. The sterio system was years old and I bought the car that way but it started to fall apart so we opted to take out the subs and speakers and scrap the sub box(PITA!!!)

here it is after we pulled the sub box out...

then we started to sand down the bare metal in the trunk. We are not removing the sound deadening at this moment...that will be removed later down the road when car gets repainted

after sanding, applying the primer and putting on the first coat of white tremclad rust paint...this is what we have.
-don't mind the paint drips...this is the first layer and will be wet sanded before 2nd and 3rd layers applied

Today Oct 18th, we pulled out the front seats and are taking out the carpet to inspect the floor and do some work to it.

water leak

put the driver seat back in now

over the next few months, we plan to install:

-built NA D-series engine
-new suspension
-paint job in and out!
-new rims + rubber

check back for more updates

looks like quite a project there! but why D-series? why not just buy a K or a B series instead of spending money on building that old D?

D-series is a cheaper build then a b/k series...
He dosen't need 200+hp in his car...he just wants something with a bit more power and keep it d-series for now

thanks for all the comments

would you be surprised that ive worked with a D-series that walks on ITRs? done right a D-series can be pretty potent. in a stock coupe chassis?

ohh! i had that same water leak problem with my old one. did you ever discover the source? i am curious i never really got mine fix i didn't know where to start.

BTW nice process looks like some time but the cars is not to bad for our harsh canadian winters.

i don't mind the wheels i think if u painted em bronze or something they would look a lot better.
