with correct engine management, it should be ok on low boost (6-7psi i think?)

there was a big FI thread a while ago, i think low to mid 200s was with just a bolt on kit. more boost, lowered compression, standalone, over 300 i think one dyno showed. its all about tuning though, if you tune it right, that makes all the difference.

b18c5 - LSD already...

10-11 psi = roll-ons only... spining 3rd is fun... but not fast.

I wonder how long a B18C (JDM GSR) with 10.6:1 compression will hold up with 10-11 psi with my crappy fuel system (yes I know it's crap but I'm going to use it for now):

Vortech FMU 12:1
stock injectors
stock P72
Apex V-AFC
Walbro 255 lph intank fuel pump

Can you say "kaboom"?

That's too much boost for stock bottom end.. If you want to last a while keep it around 7-8psi. I've seen power around 280 with correct fuel management and tuning.

Even at that the ringlands tends to go.

Just a side note: If you're gonna go turbo, I suggest going with a custom kit, you can put one together with all the parts you want for around the same price of a Drag III kit.

light pressure turbo is your friend...

10-11psi all day (12-13psi if needed)... safe tuning and proper temperature levels are all that is needed.

Researched the hell out of it cause I'd thought of doing it to mine... With something along the lines of a tuned Hondata, seems 10psi on the OE long block is doable to the tune of around 300whp + or - depending on the skills of the tuner... Seems that using the mechanical fuel enrichment method has dropped stock long block ITRs off like flies at anything above 6-7 psi... and some at less. Damn sure better take it to the dyno/wideband O2 for the latter of the two...

Stock cams, pistons and ecu will allow you 6-7 psi safely. Anything above that is asking for trouble. Your high comp pistons and JUN bumpsticks will do nothing for a boosted application.

make sure fuel management is up to snuff. even at that there are no guarantees. I wouldn' tgo any higher than 8 without getting a headgasket to lower compression. A good person to talk to is jinxproof99. he has had a lot of success working with stock internalled motors.

a "safer" way to lower the compression would be pistons. hard parts are better whenever possible. Ive heard that a stock ITR bottom end can handle up to 400hp without much problem. now, how long that will last is another question. if you want to be "safe", rip out the stock ITR bottom end(put it aside because you will be needing it when u blow the motor haha), throw on a 2.0L CRV, work it with low CR pistons and rods, maybe even sleeve it, and boost 20psi and have fun while it lasts. werd.

Where did you "hear" that a stock bottom end can handle 400hp??

FYI the post said "safety of drag 3 turbo on STOCK b18c5"

We all know, at least we should , that to do it right is to build it up, but that's not the question here..
