9904 RPM Over-rev now oil light flashes after hard braking
So, I was at the drag strip and went from 3rd to 2nd at redline. My Rev's shot to 9,904. My motor sounds just as it did b/f, but just in case i'm gonna run a leakdown and compression test on it. The funny thing is, whenever I brake hard the oil light flashes contiunously. This only happens when i brake hard, what does this mean? Is my oil pump dying?
i dont have an answer for you but how do you know it was 9,904 rpms you have a digital tach? also my bro did this today but wasnt detrimental he did 1st to 2nd to 1st only got up to about 7000 rpms.
what rpm's did you hit in third? i did the same thing in mine about amonth ago and I bet it went to about 13k easy. I bent a bunch of valves, with no real signs of it till a few days after when a valve head popped off and destroyed a piston, block and my head.
If you have a boreoscope then you can look through the plug hole and see if theres any nics in the pistons from the valves hitting.

it means you should fill your oil up....lol you're probably just low on oil, and it all sloshes the front of the pan when you brake

yea but that light doesnt flash unless the engine is in serious deprivation of oil.

It happens. You have to shift fast or you'll fall out of VTEC and with the sloppy cable shifter set up its easy to hit 2nd insted of 4th.

I did it twice. First time I hit 9900 RPM's and nothing happened. Second time I hit like 9700 and I bent some valves.
Moral of the story: Don't make a habit of it.

6psi!! That's crazy....I'm at 60-70 psi @ idle on startup and when it warms up it never goes below 20psi @ idle.
