The exhaust does not bolt directly to the stock exhaust manifold, the cat is between the downpipe and B-pipe. If you want to run the stock exhaust manifold, you can have a larger flange welded to the end of your cat, or purchase a testpipe with the appropriate flanges.

Same story with the JDM 4-1, however you need to have the correct flange to meet with the 2.5" collector on the header, along with the correct sized flange for the T1R B-pipe.

FWIW, T1R + JDM 4-1 + resonated testpipe = sweet power and sweet sounding.

wait so is he asking if the t1r b pipe will bolt directly to the header flange or just the stock cat? of course it will not bolt to the header, 3 bolt vs. 2 bolt, not to mention length.

either unplugging it or zip-tying it to the shift linkage is what I've seen done most commonly.

Even with the 2nd O2 installed in the testpipe, the CEL will most likely come back on within the first day or so.

On obd2 cars the cel will come on if you have a test pipe. Most test pipes don't have the bung or its in the wrong location. I just deal with the cel when I have the tp installed. I live in Canada and every 2 years we have to do e-tests. I just bolt on my factory cat and run the test. When its done I bolt the tp back on and enjoy the 5 whp on my R.

Keep the stock cat and replace test pipe when annual inspection comes around. It's a hassle, but its something you must do if you want to have your emmisions sticker.

This is probably the 2nd time I am voicing my opinion on this on ht....but I really started taking a hard look at whether or not I really needed that extra 5whp or so due to running a testpipe.

I've had the pleasure of growing up in Vancouver BC, surrounded by endless nature and now that I am working in a concrete jungle and the air quality is usually 2-5 times worse (according to API readings) I keep the cats on my cars when I'm on the street.

Sorry to get all tree hugger on everybody, but I urge those who run testpipes on their DAILY DRIVERS [a car you drive everyday] to reconsider the often small increase in power vs. the significant increase in emissions.

Running a 2.5in. collector? There are many highflow converters available on the market these days.... I hope I'm not too alone in this thinking.

I totally agree, I really only drive my car 6 months a year and only keep the tp on for a couple weeks when I know I'm going to the track. Daily driving with it on is really bad for the environment, it friggen stinks and makes your bumper dirtyer than usual. I will say that it does make power but breathing it in on a summer day in not fun.....its a free buzz.....not fun
