Default 350 KM's a tank..??

I had my 2007 Fit now for three weeks now. I'm getting 340 to 360 kilometers a tank City highway. It's a auto. Is it time to take the car back to the dealer???

What does "340 to 360 kilometers a tank City highway" mean? Are you getting 340 to 360 kilometers per tank in city driving or in highway driving?

Also, a distance doesn't really say anything about fuel economy without an amount of fuel. How much fuel do you add in a normal fillup?

350 km is 217 mi and 32 L is 8.5 gallons, so you're getting around 25 miles per gallon... which is obviously low.

I've logged each fillup since I bought my Fit, and I've noticed that fuel efficiency for a tank can vary from around 29 miles per gallon to around 33. I drive mainly in a city, but I'm guessing that weather or a specific batch of gas affects fuel efficiency by that amount.

You could try buying different brands of gas or buying it from different locations. If this has no effect, ask a dealer about it. Assuming the car isn't running badly or leaking gas, I doubt it's a mechanical problem, however.

Thanks for the fast replies. My Fit only has 2166 kilometers on it. I buy my gas at the same place for the past 25 years now. My other car is a 99 sunfire(179,000 km's on it's motor..knocking and pinging.) and it kicks my Fits *** when it comes to gas mileage. I'm not a aggressive driver. I fill my tank and drive 90 to 100 kilometers and the gas gauge has moved almost a quarter tank. The only reason we bought a fit was because of the room and how safe it is with all the airbags and the gas mileage. When i tell my wife that our new car isn't getting as good gas mileage as our 1999 Sunfire talk about a Fit....Tell me the motor has to be broke in or something like that so i don't have to call the dealer and take the car in..Thanks BB.

My first tank only gave me about 400kms but then again, I was driving around with the HVAC set to defrost/floor and that also runs the AC.

As soon as I figured that out, I've been getting about 500-550 per tank...

The Fit rewards you nicely for easy driving, and equally punishes you for aggresive driving. We have the 5spd and are careful to not accelerate too fast and try to not go faster than 110kph on the highway.

The result is that we get an average of 5.9lt/100km (we've also logged every fill-up and trip since we got our Fit and we've got >8200km on it already). That works out to easily getting >600km/fillup. As for the gas, we usually get PetroCan gas (I assume you are in Canada?). When a PC isn't around though we opt for Shell or Pioneer.

To give an example of how quickly the fuel economy drops; I tend to have a slightly heavier foot than my boyfriend and sometimes get in the fast lane and average 120/130kph. If I drive like that for 1/200km the next fill will usually be a lot sooner, usually with an average of ~6.7lt/100km.

For reference (I know you don't have a tach), we shift up at about 2/2500rpm and try not to max out above 3500rpm. Maybe the sound will help you guess when that it. So try driving your next fill-up being really easy on the acceleration and don't go over 110kmh if you can avoid it. You'll probably see a huge improvement.

Good point about max RPMs before shifting. The VTEC changeover is around 3800 rpm at partial throttle (lower at WOT). I've found that upshifting before the 3800 rpm changeover and keeping highway speeds below that point will help fuel efficiency.

To the OP: If you're doing these things and your car is still using too much gas, take it to a dealer. Something could simply be wrong... it's new, so you should have no problems with warranty work.

475 km for a tank is much closer to normal. I live in the US, so my car reports distances in miles... at 300 miles (482 km) after a fillup, my "low fuel" light is definitely on. It really does vary from one fillup to another. I think weather and the gas itself both have an effect.

Tire pressure and load also play a role in gas mileage.

I have a Fit sport with 5MT. And it takes 32L/360km. That's pretty much all city driving & a lot of uphill/downhill driving everyday. Plus I do use my remote start to warm up the car after it's been sitting there for a good few hours.

I have 2800km on my car so far and I'm using Chevron 92octane(don't flame me I know it doesn't need 92) at the moment. It saves me quite a bit of gas compare with my EM1 already. And I will see what difference I can make with diff tire pressure setting.
