do all have VTEC on the valve covers? seen one with d16z6 engine code but no vtec emblem seen anywhere on the engine.

 

my 99ex did not have vtec on the valve cover

i beleive the 94 does say it. not all ofthem do.. just look for engine code and vtec solenoid.... that always tells u....

 

yeah...I think only the 94-95's had 'vtec' stamped on the valve cover...

 

JDM EF9 I am just wondering how you are using a d15 distributor in your swap. Doesn't the d15 dist. miss a sensor?

 

'92-95 was d16z6

'96-00 was d16y8

As far as I know, z6 had vtec on the valve cover and the y8 didn't. Maybe there were some exceptions for the z6?

i know the 92/93 civic si hatch and ex coupes had these with no vtec on it, i have one of these black ones and a silver (y8) one (says HONDA across it), but i like the black one better

 

My Canadian Y8 Says "1.6VTEC" in big letters! Kind of an oddball I think...

 

my 95 ex engine says it, i know the 93 doesn't, and i think the 92 doesn't either.
