98 Honda Accord Help?!!!!
I have a 98 Accord LX 4 cylinder. The other day it started loosing power. When I would go to get the RPM's up to shift from one gear to the other, the car would bog down. I brought it to a small local garage and they're telling me the motor may be blown, there not sure though. There is a some squeaking coming from the engine from what they're telling me. Anyone have any similar problems? Any help woulb be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Throwing any check engine lights?
Is it an auto or manual? Also these auto transmissions are known to go South, usually on the V6 but sometimes on the 4 cylinder.

If the check engine light is on, pull the code. I don't know why people don't do this... The error code is telling you what is wrong, or at the very least it will point you towards the source of the problem.
First thing the check engine light has been on since I got the car, and second every place that ran the codes said there was nothing wrong with it.. I will have the list of the codes tomorrow. They still can't tell me if the engine is bad. The car only has 87,000 miles on it.

Hey! All I'm telling you is what they told me. I'm no mechanic, but don't you think I raised the same question about the CEL, obviously there is something wrong if it continues to stay on...

Take it to Autozone, and have them pull the code again. Have them read off the actual number for the code. (You'll want to write it down.) Then come back here to post it. If you feel up to pulling the code yourself, the 6th gen FAQ tells you how. Just make sure you jump the correct pins...
If the shop still can't tell you anything about your car by now, they're either not giving your car much attention, or they're not competent enough to have figured it out yet. Either way, it might be time to find a new shop to take it to. But before any that, come back with the codes and we'll go from there.
