Automatic Transmission Problem!!!
Today I noticed that after I park, I have difficulty shifting into PARK. Today is the first time it has ever happend to me. It would get stuck at R (right before P) when I shift from D to P. It feels like how it would feel when the push button isn't pressed, except I made sure that the button was pressed fully when I shifted. I pulled back to D and then jammed it forward to P and it shifted with the extra force. I know this is not normal, but I haven't done anything to mess up my tranny (I only downshift, but always let off the throttle before anyway, plus I don't think downshifting grinds gears). I'm thinking that the mechanism/sensor thing is out of whack. On automatics you can't shift to or from P without stepping on the brake pedal. If you try to shift without stepping on the brake, it wont allow you to push the button down when shifting from P, or it just wont let you shift into P. Well, thats what it feels like; it wont shift into P even when my brake is on. Can anyone give some advice? Thanks, I'm probably taking it to Honda this coming week.
take it to the shop....sorry I am not that much of a help, but I heard this problem before...I think you have to use your key to release some thing, so you could shift w/o using brake.the release thing is near your tranny shifter. it has little key hole....that's all I could help...FUQ me
i was actualy just looking through a helms for a 84-90 civic... the task might be a little too much for a newbie like myself, but once the helms stop intimidating me, i'll check to see what's going on, thanks
