fuel pump or fuel filter? whats wrong here
ok so Im trying to get the beater 88 civic hatch to drive during the winter, and I went to get it and it will only run for a second if I pour gas in the intake manifold, then it shuts off. I had to do the old take the lock cylinder off to start it cause the owner didnt have the key. but its a free car so I still want to get it if it is the fuel filter I can just throw a new one in and be done. Im not sure which one it is though, any ideas? They told me it needed an alt to so I already have one off my old engine to use.
OH WAIT! instead or ripping your car apart to see if the pump is working, just check it at the fuel filter. first put down your cigarette then undo the hose from the filter.press the accelerator petal and see if gas squirts out. you can even bypass that filter too if you have to.
if it is the fuel pump its real easy to install, i had to do it on my 91 crx, it takes about 2 or 3 hours but when its done the car will crank for a little bit while the fuel runs through the lines but then the car will start right up
again, if its the fuel pump
again, if its the fuel pump
the car is about 2 1/2 hours away from me, I ordered a fuel filter and alt belt to take w/ me when I go back to get it. the pump is coming on. I can put my hand on it and feel it engage. thought the fuel filter might be clogged up.
