Default obd1 conversion help needed and WTF is this thing?

Im converting my 88 civic wagon to obd1. first off i noticed the bolt pattern on the dizzys was way off so i set the motor to TDC and made sure the rotor was pointing to the plug wire going to cylinder number 1. the car fired maybe 3 or 4 times but never actually started running then just spun over and over and never fired again. i got tired of messing with it so i put the obd0 dizzy back in and it fired right up.

heres the difference in the dizzys

heres the ob0 to obd1 jumpers i got from rywire

and one last thing WTF is this mounted next to the MAP sensor? can i get rid of it by just un hooking it and plugging off the vacume lines that go in and out of it?

You haven't given us nearly enough information. What head are you using? What computer are you using? You know that an OBD0 distributor is 16 teeth and an OBD1 is 24...

you did not do enough research on what you wanted to do and now you are seating clueless. Search around or post clear details of what you are doing to what engine and with what ecu.

why the f.uck are you converting a d16 to odb1?

there is 0 reason to do this.

if its for ECU reasons, use turboedit or BRE..

edit: i see u wanna boost your wagon.. if your that set on ODB1 u gotta swap your head to a d16y7 or something with a bolt pattern of OBD1 for that distro to work...

i wouldnt even bother converting it, UBERdata isnt that much better then BRE...

the only reason im going obd1 is because my tuner does not deal with turbo edit. besides i had a spare obd1 ecu already chipped with crome and i picked up a single cam non vtec dizzy for free so i figured i scored. sorry if i may be asking stupid questions but i never work on single cams i have always had b's infact ive never owned an 88-91 civic anything that i have tried to mod ive always had cars that were 92-up so im not a newbie to hondas at all and i did search for this but everything i found was all on b series ****.

well if you dont have one now then you should get a resistor box...and the is no reason to make it odb1 unless your gettin a obd1 motor...get a d16z6 head and use the stock harness wit the box and wire vtech wit the obdo dizzy...and get a p28 compyter wit a jumper cable...thatz the kind of setup i got and iam lovin it...good luck

OBD0 to OBD1 Instructions: http://www.rywire.com/store/im...r.gif

Also pay attention to what Oxygen sensor your new OBD1 ECU Requires. If it's 1-wire, you're set. If the ECU requires a 4-wire you'll have to change that as well.
