You'll find chips in it like any other time of the year. You'll be fine.

For a carbon fiber hood, treat it like it was a boat .... because it's made like one. It's gelcoated, not clearcoated.

Get some marine wax (meguiars in a blue bottle) for it, and put on a nice coat. Should help protect it.

well, to be honest MOST hoods are clear coated not gel coated. They do clear because most companies can not shoot a gel coat in the mold and lay a part without getting TONS of tiny air bubbles so they just make a fiberglass hood and overlay it with carbon and then clear coat it. Your remedy to this is either vacuum bagging or infusion, which most companies do not do because of the higher manufacturing cost, and it takes a really skilled/trained worker.

but just put a good layer of wax on it before winter and you should be fine. Hoods do better in cold weather then they do in hot weather.

paste wax would be your best bet. if not you can use liquid wax but usually spray wax sucks

If you still have the original hood, just swap it back for winter. That's the obvious solution so I doubt you still have it...

ehh.. thanks for the reply, but i guess it wont matter too much for me. cause my hood is already getting warped and ugly from the sun and heat from the previous summers. im gonna get a repaint on the whole car sometime and im most likey gonna buy a new hood. so im not gonna worry about it too much. but thanks again guys.

The first few replies kill me. Who the hell uses an ice scraper on ANY part of their car's body?

Well when you buya new hood have it scuffed and re-cleared just to add a bit more protection and a deeper shine

I'd go to a junk yard and pickup a stock hood...if it's for the winter I wouldn't really give a ****. Just rock a stock for the winter :-\.

i live in canada and i had my hood through the winter, the only mistake i made was using the snow brush on it to brush off the snow; i found that it left a lot of fine scratches, but it was barely noticeable (only at certain angles)
