Personally I'm a big fan of the 2 litre B20 Vtec. I guess its because sometimes Iget sick of my torqueless wonder B16 and want a bit more grunt to just power away. Of course if you want to do some serious revving then the B20 isn't as ideal as an LSVTEC

B20 VTEC potentially has more torque, but I've heard bad things about cylinder walls cracking.

and this is y you sleve them. if you are hard enough to build this set up then you should have searched first or knew that they need to be reinforced.

sleeved ls block to 84+ mm. If you like cracking your sleeves 3 days later, go for a B20 block. Other than the sleeves and pistons, they're the same motor. Not to mention you can get an ls block for 100-200 dollars. You'll pay nearly $900 for a full B20 (unless you can find a block by itself, which is hard to find). Not to mention, I wouldn't trust just buying a block without the head still on it, you don't know what happened to it or why the head was removed. That 700-800 dollar difference is the price for sleeving anyway. So there you go.

Need help about what engine to put in my 89'crx si.. Want to boost the engine and it be a little more on drag side but still daily driving..

Boosted ls\vtec- hear that its a high maintenace build ?

Boosted GSR??

Boosted B20b - and hear about the cylinder walls cracking etc. ?
Boosted B20b with gsr head?

But what about "there is no replacement for displacement"

And h22 is out the question because of the weight and cv shafts breaking. And k20 is too expensive to just get it in the little Pocket Rocket

i can show you cracked ls sleeves and cracked gsr sleeves...So does that mean there all garbage? No,,it just means you have to find a good tuner, use the right gas,and not be a complete idiot..

ive had a b20vtec for about 7 months now. i would recommend it over the ls anyday.

people tell you about cracked sleevs and what not, if you build it right, you have nothing to worry about. you cant skimp out on the parts. whatever you do decide to do though, it will be fun. take your time and enjoy it.

I agree, but do LS sleeves always crack in the same spot and as frequently? No. Cracked sleeves can happen on a stock B20. ****, it happened on mine w/ 8.5:1 compression and NO boost yet. B20 sleeves ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS crack in the same spot. It's got less to do with tuning. It has to do with the FACT that they were poorly designed and they were flawed from the factory.

^^ Yeah true,,The B20 uni-sleeve design just plain sucks for performance and high revs..This is why you have to be carefull with it..reduce vibration as much as possible and try not to detonate..

b20 vtec would be ideal, 2.0l with vtec = torque from the larger displacement, however the b20 has crappy cylinder sleeves, and could crack under higher COMPRESSION but thats just my opinion.
