Default What to change with clutch change?

Hey, I think the clutch is going on on my 94 Accord Lx. I have 140k miles on it now.

What parts should I change? I want to use OEM.
I went to the parts at Honda and the guys said:
1) clutch.
2) Pressure Plate
3) Throwout bearing.
I was looking on http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com , but I could only located the clutch and pressure plate. I know I am supposed to change the trowout bearing as well, but I cant find it on the diagrams.
Can someone help me find it?

Is there anything else I need to replace when I am changing the clutch?

Dont forget the pilot bearing in the back of the crankshaft, you will need to see if autozone has a small inner (I.D.)bearing puller first before you buy the bearing though, also recommend you have the flywheel turned at a machine shop, they need to know what they are doing but dont be rude in asking please. You should replace the pivot ball that the release fork pivots on also and lube the pivot ball during installation.

You can spend a few more bucks on the input shaft front cover oil seals and the two CV axle oil seals, clean the tranny while it is out, GUNK it and wash it off. Also change your engine rear main seal ONLY if you decice to turn the flywheel, OR NOT, your there, replace it anyways, cheap. Very lightly lube the input shaft and release bearing I.D., very thin coating.

Inspect your flywheel starter teeth for excess wear, you will know, have not seen any myself on a Honda, Nissan is very bad design though.

okay. I am confused now. Please point to the numbers on each Figure of what you are refering to. I do not want to buy the wrong things.
Can you list each part that I need to get and point point to the Figure and the number?

FIG 1.

FIG 2

FIG 3

FIG 4

FIG 5

FIG 6

FIG 7

fig 1 4 & 5, be carefull not to overtorque 10 on reinstallation

fig 2 7 & 5 & 19, be carefull of 8 on reinstallation, it is actually doing the holding.

fig 7 13

fig 6 dont acidentally swap the shift cable connecting to 5 & 9.

fig 2 between 5 & 20 should be the front seal but no pic.

There is no pic of the back of the engine for the rear main seal and pilot bearing.

You will also need an alignment tool for the clutch disc on reinstallation while tightening #10s.

Throwout bearing is number 5 on Figure 2, Auto Parts stores or Dealerships might know it as a " Release Bearing"

Is the output shaft seals Fig2 #19 and Fig7 #13? If not, what are these? The output shaft seal is the seal that goes over the drive axel, right?

What is Fig2 #7? Why does it need to be changed? (please explain, no offense meant, just want to learn).

So, a Summary of my list so far:
1) Clutch Disk- Fig1 #4
2) Pressure Plat (Fig 1 #5
3) Release Bearing - Throwout bearing - Fig 2 #5
4) Left output shaft seal (axle seal) Fig2 #19
5) Right output shaft seal (axle seal) Fig7 #13.

6) Fig2 # 7 (unknown name)

along with the : (7)Rear main seal
(8) pilot bearing

Could you look up the picture for it aso I know know where to find these last 2 items to buy them. Here is the link from the website where I am buying them and tell me how to find them?

http://www.hondaautomotivepart...gry5=

Thanks

Fig 2 #7 bears all the stress of the release fork, your slave cylinder pushes one way and the release bearing goes the other way, #7 is the pivot point for all of the work, they break, I have seen a few, for a couple of bucks I now change them on every job, guaranteed.

Okay. That sound good so far. So, where can I find the:
-Rear Main Seal
-Pilot bearing

Also, what does these do? I understand everything else so far.

Is the pilot bearing different from Fig2 #7? In Duane_in_Japan's post above, you said there was no picture for the pilot bearing.

i AM guessing that you will need to post a pic of the crankshaft. The rear main oil seal hold oil into the engine and prevents it from leaking past the back of the crankshaft. You must remove the flywhell to get to it. The pilot bearing will take a special tool to remove. Pay attention as to how deep it is installed and reinstall the new one just as deep. It also is not pictured here so far, it is inside of the back of the crankshaft.

So depending on how good of a job you want to do dictates if these two parts get changed, maybe there is no oil leak at the back of the engine now but what about 6 months from now.

Yea. That's a good point, because I think that is one of the most common places for oil to leak in older cars (140k miles presently). I hope my mechanic (friend) does all of this for the same price. lol. I will search for the picture and put it up so you can verify it. Thanks for all the help so far.

Okay, Honda told me that the Rear Main Seal is in this picture. Could you pick out the correct part for me to buy? I am looking and wondering if it might be #31.
In regard to the pilot bearing, Honda says that it is not sold separately from the flywheel. Is there somewhere that I can get it?

It is #31, do not worry about the pilot bearing then. Do not remove part #9 to remove the rear main seal, just pop it out with a screw driver and tap the new one in gently by tapping around and around the circular seal until it is flush with #9. Dont pry too hard to get the old one out and scratch #9 with your screw driver, use a big screw driver or small pry bar.
