Default Introduce myself and..... Debating on new bike....

Hi, Im new to the motorcycle forum here but not new to Honda-Tech, and not THAT new to bikes. A Little background... i currently ride a 92 Katana 600 with pipe on it. Ive had it since July as my first bike and ive had alot of fun with it so far, but id like to step up to somthing newer, faster, better technology. Im up in the air over a CB600RR or an R6. Im looking to finance the bike, so no cash deals here. I can sell my Katana for $1500.00 and use that as a down payment on whatever i decide to get. Im from Baltimore, MD and my local dealer has 2 bikes im very interested in.... an 06 R6 Black on Black or an 05 CBR600RR black on black also(black on black is what i want for sure whatever i choose.) I know this topic has been beaten to death, ive done some searching and still cant decide.
So my one dealer wants $8400 for an 05 CBR600RR or $8800 for an 06 R6. Id like to get atleast an 06 for resale purposes, i just dont feel right about buying a brand new bike thats actually 2 years old... if that makes sense.

Now with the questions...

Anywhere around MD that i can finance a Bike cheaper then places like Pete's or Cycleworld?

Are the new R6s that much more UNconformatable then the CBR?

From what ive read and heard the R6 is very race oriented, and with my auto racing and drifting hobbies i know id never have time to actually race the bike, i really just want it for spirited rides and MAYBE a track day in the late future. So with that being said... is the R6 worth it? Sitting on them both i cant tell much about how they will feel without riding them around for awhile. And i also use my bike as a mode of transportation, so i dont want somthing thats Terribly uncomfortable.

Opinions? Comments? Suggestions?

This is what i ride right now.... and as you can tell, im looking for a BIG step up in performance and handling....

When i got it it looked like this...

I kinda dig the street fighter look on older bikes like the Katan cause i think they are ugly with the plastics, but on newer bikes, id be more then happy with all the plastics on... haha.

Dont get a 06 R6S, and an 05 cbr for 8400 is crazy. If I were you I would look for a used 06 R6, alot of people get in over there head with bike payments and cant afford them so you can find them at pretty good deals. It's almost winter also, look around everyone is selling there bikes and you can find one at a decent price. IMO, always buy used

Yeah, i wouldnt get an R6S.... ewww... id get the R6 for sure. I thought the same thing about the price of that CBR... i mean it is new with 0 miles but its an 05 and the resale value alone would kill that idea. And as far as finding a used 06 R6... its harder then you think... all the ones i can find are either cash deals(no financing) or from Dealers who want brand new prices for them. So its still up in the air about 06 CBR600RR or 06 R6.

Yeah, I know, that's so funny. The R6S is just an R6 from 2005.

Not that the S is bad bike by any means cause as you said its still an R6, but if im gonna get a new bike its gonna be the black on black R6 not the R6S.

Thanks for the compliments on the Kat... im gonna miss its uniquness when i get the new bike, but thats about it....haha.

so i can get the 05 CBR600RR for 8k... 0 miles brand new. or the 06 R6 for 8.8k.... im still looking for a better deal if thats possible...

Are your prices "out the door" prices?

i'd much rather have the RR, but that's me. much more comfortable, in terms of riding position, powerband, etc. plus it's a honda...

thing is, i wouldn't think about paying that much money for a bike unless it were brand new/current model year, or italian.

try getting a loan for a used bike in the 6k range if u can't swing a cash deal? 6k pretty much gets you on everyone of the new-ish big 4 sportbikes.

yeah, im assuming all you guys selling your bikes wouldnt mind me making payments of about $150.00 a month right???? because i did say i was financing it.

That R1 is damn sweet though!!!

I decided to keep my old ratty katana and put some filters and jet kit on it meanwhile. Ill get a new bike next spring or whenever i come across a sweet deal.

Good plan, but remember the prices will raise when spring comes back around. Now is the time to buy
