4th and 5th gear kind of sucks....

changing it out to the USDM ITR/B16A 4th-5th will eliminate the weird gap.

My only real complaint about the JDM 98spec tranny. Otherwise, you're still ahead imo....

4th and 5th gear kinda sucks?!? dood, its perfect for an all around racing/daily driver tranny. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear are just nice and perfect

Well your opinion differs from mine, and my opinion differs from jdmspoonitr's....

If you have driven both back to back, you may still prefer the JDM 98spec one, but after I did, I like how every gear pulls as it should. .... imo, of course.

interstate/freeway/highway driving may get pretty annoying if you use the setup that I prefer, but you win some and lose some....

I have driven 98spec and 96spec (my own car) back to back and i prefer the 96spec with 4.4 FD, the 98spec 4th and 5th are way too long and when cruising at 70mph the engine is screaming, yet has no pull in top gear when you put your foot down. 96spec with 4.4 FD is way more suitable for the street IMO.

a while ago my friend and i were driving next to each other side by side him in his type r with the jdm tranny 4.7 and me with my type r tranny 4.4 and were both in 5th gear at the same mph, his rpms were at the same exact rpms as mine. I thought it was soppose to be higher, so then y is this that me and him were at the same exact rpms on the highway doing 80 mph?

4th and 5th gear on the JDM 98spec tranny are the same as the USDM GS-R.

jdm 98spec tranny is nice, but the 3rd to 4th sucks. daily driver is fine but when u start racing u really notice the drop off when u go from 3rd to 4th

i have one in my civic and after doing 6 track days im definetly gonna change the 4th and 5th to the us and 96 spec. (1.034 to 1.107 and 0.787 to .848)
