Default Car wont start

I have a 2000 stock cx. When I would go wide open throttle it would missfire. Changed plugs, wires, rotor, cap. Still missed. Then i replaced the distributor and battery. Now it wont start. Every 5 seconds of cranking i get a pop or a thud, sounds like it wants to start. The starter sounds funny too, cant explain. Im getting tired of diagnosing it.
any help would greatly appreciated!!!!

im not no expert really about that cause it seems you changed most the things i would suggest, but did you change the coil? im guessing so but if you have a thud or a pop maybe it might by your valves or a piston make sure your plugs are gapped right.. but when you ran a diognostic on it what did it say just mis firing cylinders?

i actually might have just saved your day.. now that i think of it i had a 99 honda EX and i kept getting misfiring cylinders and i replaced everything you did.. after i sold that car cause it was givin me problems my auto teacher said that clogged or plugged catalitic converters or resinators can send exhuast back up or something like that so i am pretty sure thats what it is.. if its makin popping noise your cat is probably really really clogged.. try that or check it out im pretty sure that could be part or most of the cause

Make sure you have the firing order correct.
