Will a Cam help me?
I bought a Skunk2 IM for my d16 and these have been a big topic here lately but i lost power when i installed it. Will i gain HP back with a Cam and Adjustable Gear? I've herd yes and no
lost power? thats odd never heard of that. i guess i wont be getting a skunk2 IM, do you have a Y8 or 7? if you have a 7 you should just have gotten a Y8 IM. im sure if you get cams it will add power, but there are other things you can do as well to gain more.
put your stock one back on and see if you can return the Skunk2, if whoever you biught it from says no you should contact skunk2 nd give the the heads up and see what they say.

Doubt you would loose that much power, if you smoked him before.

Ive got a question about the original post.
If he were to install a good cam on the D series, about how much whp gain would he be looking at?
Not trying to thread jack

unless you boosting, everything is a waste of $$$ for a d-series. (and im building one) unless you have a turbocharger hanging off the front dont waste your $.
the maximum hp you can get is MAYBE 15 MAYBE probably not, but you do get those freaks.
a Y8 manifold is a darn good second option and a lot less expensive. customer service might suck...but hondas got a pretty good rep for making quality parts.
and as much as i can stress dont buy junk2 stuff. especially internals.

3....maybe? Without a sufficient build on the engine an aftermarket IM, cam, and adjustable cam gear will only net you about 5-10whp or so on a good tune. Not good for what you're paying for in my opinion.
Anyways.
At OP:
Skunk2 has been having trouble with some of their intake manifolds reducing hp by not flowing enough. Call skunk2 and see if they have a recall out for yours. In the meanwhile what you can do is put the regular one on to gain back the blocked off hp. As far as the adjustable cam gear goes, nothing really noticable, you could put a more aggressive cam on their such as the D15b cam which will net you more hp but it's still a slight difference...like the difference a cold air intake (short bore) would make.
My advice:
Leave it alone until you figure out what you're going to do with the manifold. Then work from there. If it's part of the recall, send it back, if not, buy another one or something... Either way I'd buy an edelbrock if the one w/ skunk2 doesn't work out ...but make sure your IM is good before putting a more aggressive cam and ajustable cam gear in there...then get it tuned.
Won't be much, but it'll be nice if you drive only D-series, you'll feel more power...but you won't be running down mustangs.

i stand by my opinion that without forced inductionor serios internal work like swapping pistons or rods, D series are not worth speding money on. Unless all you car about is having something that sounds fast, but can get wasted by a Geo.
